Arlington/Springfield Virginia folks...did you just feel that?
I work in Arlington and our whole office just shook for about 5 seconds. I was talking on the phone with somebody in Springfield (about 8 miles away) and they said they felt it too.

Weird.

4. I'll see if my pictures fell off the wall when I get home.
Didn't feel anything over in DC. Alexandria should've felt something too, being betwixt the two.

Deadeye Dick must be blasting an escape tunnel to Paraguay.

5. Wasn't there supposed to be blasting in that area?
I read in the WP about a week ago about rock blasting and probable reports of shaking. Not sure if that's what you felt but, perhaps.

7. I knew about blasting at Ft Belvoir
but that couldn't account for the tremor we felt up here.

9. WTOP is getting flooded with calls
saying that the Bailey's Crossroads area is experiencing booms and rumbles. The police are investigating.

11. On the phone with my wife now - we live a mile from Bailey's Crossroads
She said it was really strange and wild. Reminded her of 9/11 (we could feel the pentagon hit) only closer.

Nothing on the tv news locally yet.

14. i just heard her voicemail and she was very freaked out
I called her after seeing this thread, not realizing she'd already called me and left a voicemail on my cell phone. If it spooked her as much as it sounded like it did, it had to be pretty loud.

15. WTOP now reporting that the blasting at Ft Belvoir began earlier than scheduled
explaining the booms we felt up here. Damn...that's 15 miles away. Feeling that through the unconsolidated sediments underlying most of this area speaks to the size of the explosions.
