First Hagee, now Rev. Fucking Moon!

Senior McCain adviser helped arrange Rev. Moon coronationNick Juliano
Published: Friday May 9, 2008

A bizarre Capitol Hill ceremony a few years ago in which the eccentric conservative publisher the Rev. Sun Myung Moon declared himself the Second Coming was organized with help from a senior adviser to John McCain's presidential campaign.

Charlie Black, a Washington lobbyist and McCain confidant, lent his name to the coronation ceremony and invited a few friends, according to newly disclosed e-mails.

"What is clear from this email is that top Mccain advisor Charlie Black is admitting that he helped plan, and would have attended, an event where a convicted tax fraud would have been crowned King Of America and declared himself the Messiah--all on U.S. Government federal property (on March 23, 2004)," writes author Cliff Schecter, who published the e-mails on his blog Friday.

1. I hope they all flock to him
I hope they get on the podium and in the pulpit and declare to one and all that mccain is god's candidate and that he will appoint supreme court justices who don't give a fuck about the constitution or anyone's constitutional liberties. That his goal is shove the bible down the throats of each and every American.

7. What needs to be shouted from the rooftops is that McCain is flocking to THEM!
Maverick, my ass. I'm sick of the free pass he's getting. These stories need to be featured on TV more than just Countdown with Keith Olbermann.

2. Cliff Schecter has a good piece on this over at

Top McCain Aide Sponsors Ritual To Attack Christianity

Progressive author John Gorenfeld recently released a book exposing the unsavory ties between the GOP and billionaire, Washington Times Publisher (and convicted tax cheat) Reverend Sun Myung Moon. In his book, Bad Moon Rising, Gorenfeld shows the relationship between many in the Republican hierarchy, including the Bush clan, and a man who has often been charged with being a leader of a cult.

What is beyond question, however, is that a high-ranking McCain Campaign official, Charlie Black, has planned ceremonies for Moon to be crowned "King Of America," and Moon has had damning things to say about the Christian faith.

3. That's a good piece--imagine the blowback if this gets out to the nutjob RRR base,
the useful idiots the RNC uses to raise funds and GOTV by pandering to their worst fears and never delivering.

I'd pay to see it and it would make for some damn good tube. If it makes it, there'll be popcorn and ice cold drinks at my house!

5. Thank you very much.
If DU won't pay attention, why should we expect more from MSM?

6. He's been my senator almost since I could vote.
I've warned people that he is a typical, slimy, corrupt politician with no integrity whatsoever and have offered plenty of evidence of it (it's all too easy to find) but it's very difficult to break the "War Hero" idea despite all of his betrayal of that role--supporting torture, the war in Iraq, cheerleading cutting veteran's benefits.

But the "Reverend" Moon connection could sink him with the fundy base that supplies the RNC with money, volunteers, and votes--if somehow it could get some media attention.

DU is uncomfortably similar to a day of watching MSNBC and CNN punditize and nitpick the best hopes this country has. I'm no big fan of either of our candidates, but the alternative is simply unthinkable--no one knows that better than a lifelong, liberal Arizonan like me.

Can't rec again but I can push it up at least!

8. This place is beginning to resemble a hangover morning of being forced to watch MSNBC and CNN--
not a message board full of (presumably) smart liberals and moderates.

Excuse me, DU, but can we nitpick the OPPONENT for once? I for one, ENJOY the hobby.

Yeah, that is a harsh statement, but it is mild compared to what those fucking assholes have done to this country and the world.

Jeremiah Wright 24/7 for several weeks. Where is the coverage of Parsley, Hagee and Moon?
