2. Yeah...
...and the reason is his youth.

Can you say Dan Quayle?

Seriously, McCain is supposedly looking most for someone he can get along with.

The man's personal temperament is already becoming an issue and we're not even into summer yet.

Oh, most definitely it's his youth... and maybe the fact that he's a "yes" man to all the GOP crap as well. Haha - does anybody even know where Dan Quayle is these days, b.t.w? But I don't know if John and Tim will get along forever - Pawlenty seems to be pretty stubborn himself...

Having John Edwards in '04 sure didn't get Kerry any Southern states...and with the way the economy is, I don't think even having Palwenty on the ticket will pick up any Midwestern state, including Minnesota.

10. Pawlenty has been floated for weeks
Edited on Mon May-12-08 06:00 PM by OmahaBlueDog
My guess is that he's the fallback position. In a perfect world, McCain wants Rice or Powell to try to undercut the Dems female and/or AA base, and to interest indy's. Mark Sanford has been floated as well.

OT: This is juvenile, but check this hack job on Wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Governor_of_South_Carolina

disclaimer: I didn't do it -- I wanted to see if Sanford's name was spelled with a c or a k.

19. He's been leading on electionbetting.com for months
That's how I found out that he might be one of the favorites. He did shoot himself in the foot today when he joked about his wife not having sex with him. Last thing people need to hear from a politician with all of these scandals going on. On the other hand, maybe it was a good move by him to bring up the issue with his wife.

32. Seems like Tim Pawlenty has a case of the Biden's
always getting caught saying things he shouldn't say. Also read a story where he sent his top aide to another politician to tell him, "Cheap shots are cheap, but they're not free." LOL! Sounds like a veiled threat to me. If McCain chooses Pawlenty, I say follow him around with a tape recorder everywhere and let him dig his own grave.

34. OUCH!
Harsh analogy. :-) I actually didn't know that Hitler had lost his mother when he was young. I always credited his turn to the dark side with his experiences in war as a soldier. Once you start seeing a lot of gruesome death, it can really disturb your mind.

28. Pawlenty family values
This was originally posted in the Minnesota Forum last June (not copyrighted)

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=160&topic_id=26168

Caught a creepy segment on the FM 107 morning show (Ian and Margery--A Balanced Breakfast). Mary Pawlenty has been guest hosting with Ian.

Yesterday Mary Pawlenty told a long anecdote about when she got appendicitis and Tim Pawlenty was an insensitive lout. It was supposed to be a rib-slapping funny commentary about silly husbands but instead came off as creepy and disturbing. It was a long story, starting out when she doubled over in pain at home when appendicitis struck. Everyone laughed as she described how she was curled on the bedroom floor in a fetal position begging to be taken to the emergency room, but that rascal Tim Pawlenty told her to wait until morning to go to the regular clinic instead.

After she kept moaning and begging, and the pain got more and more excruciating, he finally agreed, reluctantly, to take her to the hospital. Despite her protestations, he decided he wanted to take a shower first. Ha ha ha!!! She described lying on the floor afraid she was dying, and begging her children to bang on the shower door to ask their father to call 911. She said he was unmoved (Ha ha ha! Those crazy Republican husbands!) and took a nice, long shower before leisurely driving her to the hospital.

Once at the hospital, he decided he really didn't feel like hanging around in the ER waiting room. While she was moaning in agony and waiting for the doctor, he told her he was leaving and put his car keys into her shoe so that she could drive herself home later! What a card! What a funny husband he is!

Then you should have heard the guffaws as she described being wheeled into surgery, alone and in despair, thinking, "I thought I had a family, but I have NO ONE!" Ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!! Then, after the surgery, Tim finally showed up in the post-op room in his suit. However, he immediately asked her if she really needed him to stay, and he left as soon as he could. Ha ha ha ha ha!!!!! You know how MEN are!!!! Ha!

The story went on and on like this for about 10 minutes, and everyone was howling at that rascal husband Tim Pawlenty, who has no empathy.

Today (surprise, surprise) they had Tim Pawlenty on to do damage control. The lovebirds traded affectionate barbs, and he told HIS side of the story, which was that he had to leave quickly to take care of the children and make sure they made it to school.

This is the caring governor we need. This is clearly the man who will bring healthcare to Minnesota's children

No wonder she won't have sex with him.

45. I'm sure Timmy the Tool would be willing to start cross dressing
if that's what it takes to be McCain's running mate.

Back in 2002 Pawlenty had planned to run against Wellstone in the Senate race, but Bushco made it clear they wanted Norm Coleman in that slot and that Timmy should run for governor. He apparently never questioned the order.
