then the day it was filmed.

My God. It is like watching history repeat itself right before my eyes.

The finale is My Forgotten Man and it is about the forgotten veteran of WWI. <-That was the Great War.

I need to learn how to get this out on DU. I'm gonna learn how to post a video. This is gonna blow your minds.

Anyone out there have a link to My Forgotten Man from the movie Golddiggers of 1933? SHARE!

3. Yip Harburg, the same guy who wrote the lyrics
for "The Wizard of Oz" wrote "Forgotten Man." I think it's one of his finest lyrics in a career of great lyrics, although not as well remembered as "Brother, Can you Spare a Dime."

A decent bio is on Wiki, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yip_Harburg.

4. Not even Spielberg could make that film today.
The same people raising gas prices and selling poisonous Chinese toys at Wal-Mart run our movie studios, TV networks and theater chains. They don't want anyone upset, like this 1933 film might. In fact, I'll bet you will never find it in any store. Lots of that crappy Narnia thing, however.

5. Spielberg
I still can't believe I bought into the hype of ET what a bad movie. I watched it a few years ago and can not believe I waited in line to see this. And bought into all the merchandising. It was the hype that made that movie and many other Spielberg films. He did some good ones, but if there weren't merchandising links it didn't do blockbuster status.

it. I thought they were nuts.

There was exactly one interesting scene, California summer eve with kids in Halloween costumes - surrealistic.

Other than that, sappy, boring, suitable for 10 year olds.

I'm glad to know someone has repented of their admiration for it.

BTW, it was the first time I notice TIME mag's cover story was in fact free PR.
