Question about voting at a comdo association meeting |
|
I live in a condo in Massachusetts that was a house and it has 5 units, all occupied. Units 1-4 have one person and unit 5 has a married couple.
If all are to vote on an issue, how many votes are there? 5 - one for each unit or 6 - one for each adult?

1. I believe it's 1 per unit. |
|
You each own 1/5th of the house, you each get 1/5th of the vote.

2. they get to set whatever rules they like |
|
the total vote is usually divided into a % for each unit OR type of unit.
however, some strange arrangements can and do exist. it is really up to whatever was the last set of rules governing voting rights. But i think it is safe to assume that if all 5 units are of same type (size) and even if they are not, it is prolly weighted to each unit proportionately, regardless of the number of occupants in the unit. (20% each)

7. It's one vote per unit. I was my condo Pres years ago and still live in the complex. |
|
You pay your fees per unit and that is how many votes you're entitled to.
