Help families through the recession

Dear ,
Tell Congress to Help Families Through the Recession
Urge your Representative to support unemployment benefits and temporarily suspending harmful Medicaid regulations.
Ten years ago, a gallon of gas cost us $1.00. Today, the average cost is $3.62.
But fuel costs are just the beginning. CNN reported that stores could soon start charging $4.00 for a gallon of milk. And the effects of the economic downturn are hitting health care, too. Health insurance premiums have increased by more than 87 percent since 2000, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.
Families across the country are struggling to meet these rising costs — and yet, things are still getting worse.
Meanwhile, 3 million workers are expected to exhaust their unemployment insurance benefits by the end of this year. And the Bush Administration has put in place regulations that eliminate federal reimbursement for important Medicaid services, further squeezing state budgets that are already facing shortfalls in vital services, including health care, child care, and education.
E-mail your Representative today

The House of Representatives is expected to vote this week on funding for some critical domestic needs, including additional unemployment insurance benefits and a temporary moratorium that would prevent the Bush Administration's troubling Medicaid regulations from taking effect.
Your message will also urge your Representative to support additional measures to help hard-pressed women and families, prevent cutbacks in state and local services, and boost the economy.
Thank you for your support on these critical measures.
Sincerely,
