Take a Long Hard Look at the Children of Iraq Caution: Graphic Disturbing Photos
Edited on Wed May-14-08 07:13 PM by DogPoundPup
Ed. Note: The images below may disturb you. They should. They disturb me too. But that doesn't necessarily mean we shouldn't look at them.

Sometimes you have to take people by the scruff of their necks and stick their noses in something for them to finally see it.

You can't see him in this picture. He's out of the frame, but a soldier did a very nice thing for this child and his father.

4. Maybe by passing the HuffPo link on for others to see the
damage being done 'in our name' will help to put a stop to the insanity?

12. Be aware; people will resent you for it.
But we MUST take that step, not only to do what we CAN for Iraqis, but also to affect the future emotional well-being of this entire country, because, if this sort of suffering is ignored, imagine what other suffering (all of those "little" and not so little harms) we will allow all in the name of something like "I wasn't there. I didn't do it. I have no affect upon it. It's not my fault. I don't need to CHANGE."

6. Their suffering will last them a lifetime... we 'seem' to only think of these children and their
parents and what is happening to them when we see pics like these.

7. I've been thinking about them since Summer 2002.

I've been in the streets with the Quakers since then.

And I actually started thinking about them some 30 years ago when I saw a photograph in Life (or Look?) Magazine of a Buddhist monk immolating himself in front of the Pentagon and it made me wonder what would make a person do such a thing.

8. i couldn't finish looking at the pics.
our soldiers are coming home after having to see this everyday-ptsd. this whole generation of iraqi kids are growing up in a world like that-ptsd and probably much hatred. even after we leave we have much to atone for. bush will be out of office but, we are still americans. the onus is on us to do something. i say we try bush like saddam was tried. i don't believe in capital punishment(but if i did, it would be appropriate for mr bush, rummy, dick, condi) maybe a lengthy jail sentence for colin for going along with this crap. since i don't believe in capital punishment-life in prison for all of them. my heart is breaking for the innocents.

11. those who survive to adulthood will have every reason to hate the U.S. . .
we're creating a whole new generation of "enemies" in Iraq . . . and twenty years from now, people will be asking why the Iraqis have so much hatred for the U.S. . . duh . . .
