Why are the PAID OPERATIVES, trained by the Heritage Foundation and their ilk, |
|
falling all over themselves telling us how badly the RRRepublican Party has lost it's way?
There was a twit on the Abrams show, I've seen other passing references to it on the tube and here at DU. I find it strange that they are almost admitting their failures. Can someone explain this?
I smell a rat--are they planning to disown the failures or something? :wtf:

I can't really source (Abrams, Olbermann). This one references a NYT article: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=3285216&mesg_id=3285216It seems very odd that they are so public about their--FAILURE. Guess I'm just a suspicious sort.

They really don't get it. They don't see what is obvious, since they have been hiding it for so long, they can't see it.
Let me give them a hint, simply because I actually want a strong opposition party to keep my party honest.
Hint number one, Find a conservative value that is not actually being hateful or judgmental in the guise of virtue.

Talking with John King sitting in for Larry. They were discussing the Mississippi loss of yesterday.
Unless it's past my bedtime and I saw her on Dan's program. Too much tv between yesterday and today.

I must have been going between the shows. Don't recall her name but she's an annoying woman who always appears so superior in her attitude.
Anyhow, she said that the GOP can't use Rev. Wright to beat up on Obama in the general. Talk about my jaw dropping. And it fits right into your theory. Something is up with those R bastards and this new tact.

16. This is the GOP's trial balloon. |
|
Edited on Wed May-14-08 10:57 PM by ColbertWatcher
They are trying to get their "new brand" out there before summer.
They want Americans to get used to the idea that even though the GOP is all about obedience and party discipline they really are separate and independent candidates and "elected" officials.
They want Americans to believe that somehow every GOP candidate is not the GOP.
Whatever part of this new conditioning that doesn't work will be changed until they can find just the right message to sell the non-GOP GOP plan in time for the election.
And if that doesn't work, BOO! There are terrorists everywhere!

17. Y'know, thinking back on what the HF twit on Abrams was saying, that makes absolute sense. |
|
I found it remarkable that she used the phrase "the party is out of touch" when referencing their recent Congressional defeats, but also stuck to the party line on the Rev. Wright dustup.
That's just it--they are going to sell themselves as the party of the people--"The Change You Deserve."
Gack.

|
They don't care if they are elected, they don't care if anyone buys what they're selling.
They just say what they believe people want to hear, then do what they planned on doing regardless.

Ketchup references notwithstanding, there are only two reasons they would do something like this.
The first follows along with something I've been saying about the Republicans for a few months: They're getting ready to lay low. The mechanism's fairly simple: throw as many elections as possible (while still maintaining SOME presence in government), obstruct and denigrate the Democrats as much as they possibly can once the GOP is out of power, then take delayed credit for anything the Democrats manage to accomplish. Witness the Clinton years: once the Big Dog's economic program began to bear fruit and the economy started to turn around, the Repukes and their Mighty Wurlitzer went into their "see, we knew Reagan's wise decisions would work" mode. Of course, the stupid among us agreed with them: Reagan was an Economic Genius and Clinton is a tax-and-spend liberal. To make all this work, they're denigrating their own party so thoroughly no one in his/her right mind would ever vote for them.
The other is probably slightly more accurate: They're trying to motivate the Republicans into getting their shit together. Unfortunately for the Republicans, this won't actually work--not this year. The party is just too broken.

I've been wondering the same thing with regard to Bush**'s non-admission admissions of guilt this week. "I was misled"..."I stopped playing golf to support the troops"....
It smells like a RW set-up to me. Can't figure it out though.
