1. I think Karl Rove might be behind the $4.00 a gallon thing...
If only the super wealthy are able to afford to drive to the polls in November, then McCain will get all the votes. Karl can steal another one for St. Gipper.

And if you think the cost of living is jumping by leaps and bounds lately...check out the cost of dying sometime.

Toilet paper will soon be $5.00 a roll at this rate.

2. Bush isn't going to raise taxes
They are going to charge a 'usage fee' for parking in the gas lines waiting to buy gas.

4. Yes, it's a deliberate campaign to reduce all citizens EXCEPT the wealthy
to total ruin and powerlessness. And it is being conducted just like everything Bu$hCo does these days -- "in your face" and without any excuse or apology.

They've been doing this for some time now, since the outrage against their reprehensible actions in all areas of life and many regions of the world has mounted steadily. They simply IGNORE everyone and everything they don't want to think about or answer for, and that's that.

What can you do when those who hold great power just IGNORE any checks on that power??

They ignore the law, and the suffering they cause, and they continue to ramp up their program(s) to gain ever more power and wealth for themselves and reduce everyone else except their wealthy cronies to helplessness, impoverishment, imprisonment, and despair.

I believe it's their plan; and because they ignore all efforts to stop them -- successfully, I might add -- it's working beautifully for them. I don't see an end to it at all.

By the time the great numbers of "middle class" people in this country fully realize they are being pushed relentlessly downward into the level of poverty that has caused so much suffering for millions for decades, it will be too late. I believe it's probably already too late, frankly, and I regret having to admit that.

But all the power the "middle class" may have had is rapidly slipping away, and they don't want to see it because the prospect is too horrific to contemplate.

I can understand that, as I've been through what they're facing and know how it felt to me, too.

But it's surely a terrible thing to watch unfolding, ever more obvious as each month slips by. Unstoppable, the culmination of this government abuse, corruption, and criminal activity we've been witnessing seems to keep right on track, while everyone wishing to deter them slides downward and loses strength.

Very grim indeed.

The very words "Tom Joad" mean something to Oklahomans that bring shudders and nightmares. The nightmares are very real again, already, for so many all around me!

5. "for so many all around me!"
Same here. Very sad to watch...

Reminds me of this song.

"Brother, Can You Spare a Dime," lyrics by Yip Harburg, music by Jay Gorney (1931)

They used to tell me I was building a dream, and so I followed the mob,
When there was earth to plow, or guns to bear, I was always there right on the job.
They used to tell me I was building a dream, with peace and glory ahead,
Why should I be standing in line, just waiting for bread?

Once I built a railroad, I made it run, made it race against time.
Once I built a railroad; now it's done. Brother, can you spare a dime?
Once I built a tower, up to the sun, brick, and rivet, and lime;
Once I built a tower, now it's done. Brother, can you spare a dime?

Once in khaki suits, gee we looked swell,
Full of that Yankee Doodly Dum,
Half a million boots went slogging through Hell,
And I was the kid with the drum!

Say, don't you remember, they called me Al; it was Al all the time.
Why don't you remember, I'm your pal? Buddy, can you spare a dime?

Once in khaki suits, gee we looked swell,
Full of that Yankee Doodly Dum,
Half a million boots went slogging through Hell,
And I was the kid with the drum!

Say, don't you remember, they called me Al; it was Al all the time.
Say, don't you remember, I'm your pal? Buddy, can you spare a dime?
