Lieberman: Bush "got it exactly right today" with "appeasement" remark

http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N15286023.htm

WASHINGTON, May 15 (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush stirred up the campaign to replace him by suggesting on Thursday that Democratic front-runner Barack Obama's pledge to talk to Iran's leader amounted to "the false comfort of appeasement."

...

A prominent McCain backer, Connecticut independent Sen. Joe Lieberman, said Bush "got it exactly right today" by rejecting the idea that "if only we were to sit down and negotiate with these killers they would cease to threaten us." He did not mention Obama in a statement.

I don't think there is recall legislation in CT
Not only that but the gov (Rell) is a repuke too, there is not a chance in hell that she would in any way support a recall of traitor joe because he would get his ass handed to him in a rout.

I still can't believe a majority of people in my State bought this assholes line of bullshit against Lamont, what a prick.

21. There is no recall "legislation" in ANY state...
Senators and Reps are constitutional (Federal) positions. So, a state can not "recall" them.

6. Of Course he does
Because it's Muslims who are being murdered and tortured, why should Lieberman be concerned about that.

I've never been to Connecticut, but those Independent voters should did f**k the rest of us.

that would give the Senate back to the pukes and cheney. If, and I really am hopeful, we take one or two more pukes out of the Senate in November the POS lieberman is out on his bony white ass. The reason he's such a mccain slut is that he knows his career is over unless mccain wins the White House and gives him a cushy cabinet position.

I can't wait for that asshole to be a fucking asterisk in history, it's time he goes away once and for all.

on edit: typos

They set up the rules in this session of the Senate so that it won't matter if Lieberman defects.

But there is conversation about it and today's comment will add fuel to the fire. The dems look to pick up 5 Senate seats in Nov., so Joe better start minding his P's & Q's.

Reid: Lieberman could lose his chairmanship
By Manu Raju
Posted: 05/12/08 06:50 PM

“Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) could be stripped of his chairmanship of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee after the next election, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has said.

Speaking to MSNBC host Keith Olbermann on Friday, Reid suggested the former Democrat, who lost to a left-wing primary challenger in 2006 and has now endorsed Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) for the presidency, is not guaranteed to keep his prestigious chairmanship.

Olbermann asked Reid if there was “anything that he could do that would make you move to take his leadership position away on Homeland Security.” The majority leader responded: “Yes, of course,” but did not elaborate.

Democratic aides cautioned not to read too closely into Reid’s comments, saying stripping Lieberman of his chairmanship remained a very unlikely scenario.”

23. Once we get another seat or two...or six? That will absolutely happen.
And then the whiny little traitor will be thrown out by the dirty repugs too.

He will be of no further use to them at that point.

Traitor Joe will be without a friend.

Poor sorry thing.

If you don't bomb the crap out of someone you are appeasing them. I didn't have Lieberman figured for a bully, but he apparently is one.

15. When I last checked, Joe, the U.S. and Israel are the ones doing most of the killing these days.
You know, if Lieberman had any rational perspective, he would know that the Persians would be quite justified in saying the same thing about negotiating with the Bush and Olmert regimes. Yet, negotiations are exactly what Iran wants - the very thing that Bush and the neocons will do ANYTHING to avoid.

Of course, I don't think it will matter that much after the November Senate and House cleaning . I can't believe we have to wait four more years before dumping him.

35. Oddly enough, when asked about his party loyalty, he still claims to be a Dem.
But I really fon't get why he says that. I suppose he has other issues in which he still votes like a democrat. And it sounds like he doesn't want to leave the Democratic party. I just want him to go away.

Edited on Thu May-15-08 10:56 AM by Warpy
Somehow I don't see even the people of Connecticut being dumb enough to return a senator better at representing Israel than the people who voted for him into office.

One of the major jobs of a new Congress will be to neuter this man, render his last years in office ones of total frustration and irrelevance.

25. Joe is a he-man.
Can you imagine tough old Joe who opposes appeasement actually going into a battle? Charging from a foxhole to storm an enemy turret? No, a) he'd get deferments and arrangements and never go (like he did), b) he would cower in his hole the whole time, shaking until someone slapped him and said move, and then he'd be afraid of the guy slapping him, so he'd move until he found a new place he could cower.
