To kick Lieberman out of any Chairmanships he now has.. We will have the Vice-Presidency which cast the Tie breaking vote. I am convinced we will pick up some seats anyway but just saying....we don't have to.. Lieberman should get ready for it...He does not deserve anything from the Democrats as he is actively campaigning against them....He needs to be moved to the other side of the aisle

3. we can only hope
tho i honestly see us gaining in both houses.

i just hope we police ourselves better than the republicans did themselves.

i want resposible government along with a working one ;)

if we really believe what we say we do, we wont exploit our power. i do think republicans have it coming if we do the run the table on everything, but i dont think it sets a good example.

4. It would probably be both houses & presidency. Imagine the possibilities.

5. WRONG
Need a clear and resounding majority in both houses or we get more gridlock, for which a DEM president will be (wrongly) blamed.

7. I was referring to maintaining Majority and Choosing Chairs
I doubt we will gain a significant amount of seats to not have to worry about cloiture votes. I hope we do but that means we need to gain ten seats and keep Lieberman as well...Do you think that is going to happen? I gues the point about maintaining Majority status was completely lost on you..

15. nobody, not even in the RNC is going to doubt whether we keep the majority
The question this year is whether we get those 10 seats needed to overcome the filibusters.

8. You need to start watching a little C-Span...maybe study politics
You obviously know very little about how this stuff works.

We need a filibuster and veto proof majority, not just a simple majority in the Senate.

11. Apparently people here just can not read and/or comprehend what they read
My post was not about Cloiture votes or having a super majority. My post was about maintaining the Majority without Lieberman..To maintain the Majority we don't need to pick up a single seat... To stop gridlock we need to pick up elevin seats.. How many think that is going to happen?

13. That does no more good than picking up zero seats..
To block cloiture we need to pick up ten with Lieberman or elevin without him..

14. I don't buy that at all....
A 55 seat majority is much better than a 51 seat majority. One always has to consider that LIEbermann is not the only "Conservative Democrat" in the body. There will always be Senators that will not vote with the Party on certain issues. Their right, to be sure, but that doesn't help us get a progressive agenda moving.

We desperately need to roll back some of the uber-riech-wing policies of the past couple of decades. For that, the more seats we get, even if we con't get a filibuster-proof majority, the merrier in my book.

Sorry, but saying "We don't need to win a single Senate seat" smacks of defeatism to me. We need a rout this November, not a squeaker. Traditionally, the American people have been mostly centrist, even mildly socialistic. We need to get back to that standard. To do so, we need a decided and major shift to the left.

There are 33 seats up for grabs, 22 of them Republican. Can we win half of those, while maintaining the incumbant Dems? The mind boggles. :)
