As I handed her the 40 bucks in legal tender she said me and my husband need to start doing that. She went on that the credit cards were killing her. She said something about 12 grand on one and I said damn thats a lot. She looked down and said that was just the one as if there were others. She said she thought they (her and her husband) were going to need to take a loan out on their house to pay off the cards. Ouch! I didn't know what to say. I said I was sorry and good luck and picked up my stuff and left.

1. You must have a kind face
Poor thing!

She probably bought something stupid and selfish, like food or medicine, with her plastic.

2. Should have told her.. stop paying them.. take all your present money
out of the banks.. and cash all future work checks.. more people need to walk away from the c.c. and move the present banking system out of America faster.

9. Pretend you were an alien species and you were trying to understand this..
A piece of paper denotes what you have to live on. What you have to eat. What you have to wear. What you have for trasportation. Where you live. Your freedom. Explain how a piece of paper makes the world go round. From an alien perspective it makes little sense. I never used my c.c. thinking of defaulting. I ran out of money. The reason I used them in the first place was because I didn't make enough to always pay my bills and grocery bills and clothes bills and diaper bills. The house of cards finally collapsed. I'm lucky now that I make enough to pay the mortgage and for my bills and come out about even every month. God forbid I can't work. I don't have my middle class welfare to pull myself up with anymore. I don't have anymore bootstraps left. I'm sure this woman is feeling like myself.

5. and let those that pay their bills pick up the her debt?
Is that ok with you? The banks will just make up the loss from those that pay their bills.

6. and you don't think the banks aren't walking away from bad debts?
It's okay for THEM to walk away from bad debts, as long as it doesn't effect YOU? People who keep using those credit cards are the ones giving WELFARE to the banks by agreeing to pay the ridiculous fees.

8. as long as it does not effect me? of course it does . . . why would you say that

is it unlike shoplifting at a retail store? The store will simply make it up by raising prices.

Here, the bank will either charge a bit higher interest on loans or a pay a little less on the money they are holding. Why should others have to make up for the bad debt of those that walk away from their credit card balances?
