Why aren't the pro-liars pushing for preferential tax treatment for fetuses? |
|
The Religious Wrong likes to push the meme "zygote = baby."
Plus "embryo = baby" and the crowd favorite "fetus = baby."
Let us assume the RW is serious about this and that they really think these pre-baby life forms are exactly equivalent to a baby. Let's get to the point: if it's a baby, why isn't it deductible? Why aren't they pushing for the deductibility of pregnancies?
I think parents would really like to be able to deduct a pregnancy as if it was a child, regardless of their stance on abortion. Pregnancies aren't cheap and a lot of those expenses are both undeductable and uncovered by insurance...baby furniture comes to mind. You could prove pregnancy by attaching a doctor's note. If you miscarry before the end of the tax year you could prorate your deduction.
Without deductibility, it's a lump of cells they want to use to control women. With it? Well...it's still not a baby in my book.

Why, the government might have to raise taxes or something!
But if you told 'em that, the pro-liars would be all "well, just get rid of welfare and food stamps, and they can afford to pay for the whole pregnancy." Never mind the fact that "food stamps" are issued under the Aid for Families with Dependent Children, and the other big food aid program is WIC--Women, Infants and Children. Just get rid of assistance to born children and we can pay for fetuses.
Which brings us back to the real problem with those people: once you're born they don't give a shit about you.
