Colorado Republican Senatorial candidate climbs Mt. Macaca (seriously)
This would be hilarious if it weren't so pathetic. Actually, it's hilarious anyway...

Colorado Republican candidate and former Congressman Bob Schaffer (whose campaign is being run by Dick Wadhams, the same man who ran Allen's disastrous '06 campaign) launched his first TV ad the other day, featuring a picture of Alaska's Mt. McKinley when he was trying to talk about Colorado's own Pike's Peak. As you can imagine, the ad has already been pulled, but the DSCC is offering Schaffer a little help to make sure it doesn't happen again. See for yourselves:

See the whole (very hilarious) post at the DSCC website. Laugh along to the Republicans' woes and keep thinking about that 60-seat majority :)

1. Colorado has 58 peaks over 14,000 ft
any one of them would have been a good backdrop.

'Course, since he mentioned Pikes Peak, he could have just used it...

How DO these idiots ever get elected?

2. I believe that he was trying to talk about how he proposed to his wife on Pike's Peak
I guess he was so caught up with emotion that he couldn't remember what the mountain, that I have lived under since I was born, looked like.

3. "How DO these idiots ever get elected?" -- Lots of other idiots vote for them.
We may win big in November (I hope, I hope) but one in four Americans (at a minimum) still think Bush's GOP is the way to go.

We've got a huge clean-up job ahead!
