1. Maybe because Dumbya Goodwinned the news...
Edited on Thu May-15-08 07:44 PM by ColbertWatcher
...by quoting Republican senator, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Edgar_Borah#Quotations">William E. Borah, when he said:
"As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: 'Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided.' We have an obligation to call this what it is: the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history."CNN

Despite his grandfather's connections to the Nazis.

3. Godwin is when someone introduces Hitler to a conversation...
...Bush's Law is when someone says something really, really stupid.

Put food on your family, Is our childrens learning, etc.

5. I got the distinct sense that
when Fuckface read that line about Nazi tanks crossing into Poland in 1939, that was the first time he'd heard about it.

6. He actually holds a Bachelors in History from harvard, if memory serves
but he also got plenty of Gentleman C's

And as somebody who had to bust my ass to get both my BA and MA I truly resent the elites having such an easy time... and he gives a bad name to historians

7. Legacies get degrees all the time
Never confuse a degree with an education.

19. I think there's going to be a backlash,
and it's going to be big. The CA Supreme Court's gay marriage decision is, I believe, just the beginning.

I think a lot of things are going to change, and finally get on the proper and fair track.

Let's just toke up, sit back, watch, and enjoy..........

22. Don't give up
If we don't fight them over there, we'll have to fight them here.

Keep the faith. I know how dispiriting this current Congress has been, but (and I bet I'm a lot older than you) my weary old heart still surges with hope when I contemplate Barack Obama.

Hold on. Don't let them get you down.

24. Not sure you are older... just know that this time it feels that
the backlash MAY come only after the full force of the depression hits us

Americans still feel way too disconnected and the telescreens are good at keeping them down....

And don't get me started on them "values voters"

It will happen, just don't know when.

Been waiting for people to wake up since oh 2002 when I first started demanding this idiot be impeached.

So at this point... will see how much... of a backlash we get

9. Many suspect that Prescott Bush was involved in a plot to overthrow FDR
and replace the government with a fascist military regime. The conspirators approached Marine General Smedley Butler to do the job because he had done the same in numerous Latin American countries. Unfortunately he was a staunch Roosevelt supporter, so he ratted on them.

25. I'm really disgusted with these hypocrites
How can Bush make all these veiled remarks over the years questioning others' patriotism? How can he talk about Iran as though his father's buddies weren't involved selling them weapons?

I usually try to maintain a basic level of human respect for people I disagree with, but just can't keep that up with these folks.
