I am watching Bill Moyers and apparently "naive" is a code word?

There is a husband and wife team--each supports one of the two Democratic candidates--and they are arguing about this. The husband is arguing for "unrealistic" and the wife is explaining that there has to be a way of talking about experience. The husband is really worried about code words.

I didn't know "naive" was a code word.

I can understand that, but it's hard to know what is something that will inflame and what won't.
