Mike Huckabee on Meet the Press |
|
Says his "joke" at the NRA rally was all meant in good fun but it was a really, really dumb thing to say. And, he has a news flash for us: It wasn't the first, nor will it be the last, dumb thing he will say. Furthermore, he wishes no ill will on Obama -- everybody should know that. Not one word, mind you, acknowledging just how dangerously reckless and blatantly out of line his comments were.
Then, in a discussion of the GOP's Congressional chances this fall, Russert played a clip from Tuesday night of Huck commenting that if Republican candidates try to ride the party brand down Main Street USA this fall, voters will "shoot the elephant right out from under them."
What is with this man and his unfunny, stupid, and dangerous gun references?
I hope to hell this man does not find his way on the GOP ticket.

1. Huckabee is disastrously inappropriate for public life. |
|
He's appalling.
He is neither a public servant nor a Christian, IMO.

see I made a stupid remark about shooting my party so it's nothing personal.

4. Well, GE Russert keeps referring to him as VP Huckabee. |
|
Did that at least twice. GE Russert trying to keep the Huckster's hope alive.

It was uncalled for, and I think Russert should have pressed him for a more pronounced denunciation of Huck's gun comments. Oops, I forgot. This is Russert we're talking about.
At one point toward the end, after another VP reference, Huck pulled out his cell phone stuck it to his ear and said, "It's John and he's telling me to knock it off," or someting like that...
Jesus. I wish they would wake up to see that, to many of us, this is not a joke. I think a McCain/Huckabee ticket is a very real possibility, with all the badness that goes with that.
ON EDIT: One more thing that REALLY pissed me off about that discussion...don't know why I didn't include it in my OP: While excusing his Obama remarks, Huck compared them to Reagan's "we're going to bomb the USSR in five minutes" and McCain's "Bomb Iran" song. No, Mike, that doesn't cut it, either. Your comments mentioned a SPECIFIC individual and a very SPECIFIC reference. Big difference. And if you can't see that...well, then, you're either stupid or dangerous. Or both. I vote for the latter.

smug moralistic attitude of the fundamentalist nutbag AND the clueless pro-corporate affiliation with the Republican Party, John McCain is callous, desperate, and block-headed enough to choose him as his veep nom.
That's a damned frightening ticket.

We must be alert to it, cause the corporate media sure won't be...if anything, they'll play along. It's the many "whisper" campaigns that GOOP are famous for and already astroturfing out there. It started with the Obama is a Muslim and then into the Reverend Wright crap (a poor attempt at them trying to hide their blatant racism) and I suspect we'll hear the name William Ayers, drugs, Tony Rezko and a ton of other claims that Gramps will either disavow or shrug off but will be the fodder 24/7 on hate radio and from it seeping into the corporate media. Sadly there are too many inside the beltway who turn on a Rushbo and think this is what people are thinking and talking about.
Gramps will let his surrogates like Hucklenutz shoot off their mouths...and they won't hesitate (as we've seen) as all Hucklenutz cares about is HIS future ad positioning himself for the future...especially if Gramps implodes. It's no harm, no foul...as Hucklenutz can pretend to play concern troll...get invited on networks as a "special anal-ist" and appear to be "reasonable"...a "nice guy" con game he's used all his political career.
Let's see if Timmeh calls him out on this game or plays into it. I'll give you 3:1 odds, Timmeh plays right along...
