3. People do that when they're scared. A way to push fear away.
For the media to do that is unforgivable.

I noticed it this past weekend on GE-NBC's evening newscast. It was an obit. Disgusting.

7. Too early for that crap...
... but unfortunately I can't blame them for expecting it. Life expectancy with a glioma is < 1 year, depending on the type. If he's very lucky, he'll take my friend's path and have a couple clean years after chemo before a more aggressive recurrence and loss of function shortly thereafter. I really wish him the best - not just survival, but keeping up his great ability.

8. They all have, off and on.
I think they realize it, then correct themselves.

Fox, however, has been over-the-top. I turned it off.

11. Senator Byrd!
Oh no. Just sobbing so hard on CNN! OMG! Poor thing(U)
Just broken down!!!! Heartbreaking!

Senator Byrd being who he is I really feel for him.

The news media is making me nuts though. Yes of course it's the worst news, the worst kind of tumor but Senator Kennedy is alive, damnit! Get your act together CNN/MSNBC!

10. That's what I thought when I just walked past the TV in the other room...
...MSNBC was on, and I stopped, because they sounded like they were in "obituary mode".

13. I think the "past tense" that u are hearing.....
is just that they are talking about all that Ted Kennedy has done in his life and the great career he has had in the senate, ect. It is not "past tense" in the sense that he is a gone forever. This is serious medical news and it is very likely that he will not be able to continue as he has in the past...and will most likely have to retire in order to put all of his concentration and energy into the fight that will require all that he has in him to fight.

15. When They Say Things Like "He WAS A Great Senator"......
I'm sorry - but that sounds like past tense to me. He IS a great Senator. He will be until he is no longer of this world. They are talking like he is already dead.
