Yikes!! What are gas prices where you live?
Southern California prices are $2.739 at a few stations. Most are charging $2.899.
These prices are rising faster than a loaf of bread.

What gives? What is causing this crap?

:grr: :grr: :grr:

16. Premium?
Edited on Sat Mar-03-07 06:18 PM by longship
Who uses premium? My 18 year old Volvo runs fine on Reg-Unl.

I can't think of any reason to use premium unless a person is either naive and believes the Petrol commercial claims that Premium is in any way better for your car, or a person drives a Boxster, or a Ferrari, or something like that.

I've always assumed that premium gasoline--or as we used to call it, ethyl (which gave rise to a myriad of bad jokes about pumping ethyl)--is a sucker bet.

29. My Trans Am needs premium
Vehicles with a high compression engine (10:1 or more compression ratio) need premium, its the same deal for those that are supercharged or turbocharged. My dirtbike also runs premium, so no, its not a sucker bet.

14. $3.20 down the street from where I live on the Central Coast, CA
There's three gas stations at that intersection and prices at two of them have gone up like a rocket over the past couple of weeks, to $3.199. The third has been charging 24 cents/gal less all along, and I don't know why, but we are getting our gas there.

They're messing with our minds -- because they can.

18. It took longer to hit $3 again than I thought it would, actually
back when the prices dropped through the floor in October (right before the election) I was positing that the national average would be back up to $2.89 by the first week of January.

Edited on Sat Mar-03-07 06:36 PM by Sir Jeffrey
that would push the prices up quite a bit. You know, if we invade Iran we'll need some extra gas or people will riot once the Strait of Hormuz shuts down.

edited to add that gas went up nearly 40 cents a gallon where I live (2.09 last week to 2.45 yesterday)
