Rove's Legal Team Caught: Involved With DoD Military Analyst Program

By testing - May 24, 2008, 4:10PM

Part I: The DoD Email Linked To Rove's Legal Team and Correspondence to Congresshttp://www.dod.mil/pubs/foi/milanalysts/23Apr08/BarstowRelease23Apr08/5889-6013.pdf

show the same law firm as listed on the letter to Congressman Conyers. http://judiciary.house.gov/Media/PDFs/Luskin080521.pdf

Legal counsel with the firm are reported to have disclosed Rove's involvement with specific meetings, not just those in conjunction with the military analysts. The White House, NSC, State Department, and other White House-connected personnel are also involved

The name of the law firm is on the letter head to the Judiciary Committee; and the email format and address match those provided through the DoD FOIA. The Major General listed on page 111 has contact information matching the same Rove's law firm counsel wrote to Conyers. The firm's name also matches contact information on page 107 of the DoD emails.

These issues may or may not relate to war crimes issues, punishable by the death penalty. The DoD emails show the interaction between counsel and the government was not a narrow legal-advisory role.

.........................

It is beyond dispute Rove was involved with the military analyst program. The question turns on what information outside counsel have, how they intend to use this information. The connection between Rove's law firm and the DoD military analyst activity raises many issues:

5. I guess when they do so many bad things they are bound to slip up
and forget a thread or two that will lead back to them.

I want to see that arrogant SOB in a hand-cuffed frog march. This all has to be done in such a way that Bush* cannot pardon him - or dismiss any charges against Rove and friends.

19. You have pointed out where strategy needs to be implemented
Conyers and all of the other investigators Must continue their investigations through the end of the the current Presidency, and on the first day of swearing in of the new Democratic President they must file their charges. This way there is no pardon etc by *.

22. I couldn't agree more
I bet Conyers is thinking the same thing, too. Right now he's methodically collecting evidence in a determined and precise manner.

I try to keep up with this, but there is so much to read and remember. I wish I could download Conyers' brain; the amount of information gathered must be way beyond believable, and a lot of it unbelievable in nature. I mean who would think our public servants - under oath - would labor so intensely to disrupt democracy? I know, I know, that is a rhetorical question, we are talking about Karl Rove, here! LOL

I wonder how many will flee the country. Maybe W will put him up in Paraguay!

As an aside, the best place to keep up with the corruption is over at http://firedoglake.com/ and from there I learn a lot from: http://emptywheel.firedoglake.com/

17. War crimes and ELECTION CRIMES. This propaganda was targeting Kerry's criticisms of Bush's military
decisions from Tora Bora to invading Iraq when weapon inspections were proving force was not needed. And any plan Kerry put up to secure Iraq for elections in 2005 and then start bringing home troops would get dismissed as if he was a mere fantasist.

Rove had the corporate media prepared early on to be tapped for his war to keep Bush in office.

12. Took me a few minutes to sort out what was being said.
Little things like actually stating what the similarities were, rather than having people rummage and duplicate the research, provide a certain clarity that I find helpful in narrative and expository prose.

TPM could have taken a minute to check out Nardotti himself. He's a partner at Patton Boggs. It's not just contact information on p. 111 of the long DOD pile of documents; it's his job. http://www.pattonboggs.com/mnardotti/

On p. 107, it's obvious that Garrett is a partner. http://www.pattonboggs.com/jgarrett/ Patton Boggs is a huge firm. Tracking down their on-line descriptions wasn't tough; it just required going to the Patton Boggs website and searching on "nardotti" and "garrett". Remember the scoop with McCain plagiarizing from somebody else's speech ... only to find that a websearch would have revealed that McCain was actually plagiarizing from one of his own older speeches ... as was "somebody else"?

Now, had either IDed themselves as working for Patton Boggs when they were giving interviews (assuming they did), there'd be a problem with their boss. Or had they commented on things that involve their work.

Luskin's been Rove's attorney throughout the Libby/Plame grand jury proceedings. http://www.pattonboggs.com/rluskin/ He appears to be in a different division (how's that for size?).

I'm not sure that the roof serves as an introduction in modern etiquette, nor does it serve to establish complicity. TMP needs actual muck; what it's stirring with this is marginally turbid water. Even having Luskin seen lunching with Nardotti or Garrett would provide *something*.

16. rovian fantasy
jeez, i despise chicken hawks and i despise evil. sometimes the only way to extract a measure of revenge on these types is in one's imagination. hence...

http://labloga.blogspot.com/2008/05/fantasy-bring-em-on-4131-at-time.html

Karl Rove stepped into the open limo with a quietly elated smirk and pulled the door behind him. The vaunted New Yorks Times ran the results twice. The President’s support actually increased the second election and the Democrats had slunk away in defeat. Everything was working just as Karl had laid it out.

Rove wanted to get inside and draw the blinds to avoid glimpsing the protestors who thronged like flies to dead meat along his route. He started to turn away from the bullet-resistant window but his coat was caught in the door. When he turned to look at the coat his eyes fell on a Post-It note attached to the glass, inside the White House Limo: “Why aren’t Rove’s kids in Iraq?” His fingernails scraped against the glass as he crumpled the yellow square . . .

20. In my opinion,
, the identify of rover's law firm is completely irrelevant to the substance of these matters. Patton Boggs is among the largest of law firms in dc, and represents MANY high-profile people, in many high-profile matters. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patton_Boggs_LLP

It was also one of the biggest Democratic firms in the town. BOGGS = http://www.nndb.com/people/828/000118474/

Its MUCH MORE USEFUL to go after rover than to play such games with the law firms.
