Photo Gallery: Meet new Honorary Rolling Thunder member George W. Bush

WASHINGTON — Members of the Rolling Thunder motorcycling group roared into town for a White House visit Sunday, where they presented President Bush with his own cowhide vest jacket and pushed for increased veterans benefits.

"Mr. President, we'd like to make you an honorary member of Rolling Thunder," said Artie Muller, the group's executive director, to a delighted Bush, who shed his suit jacket to don the vest and pose for pictures.

"You've done a lot for the country, and the troops appreciate you, and the veterans appreciate you, and your president appreciates you," Bush told the group.

For 21 years now, Rolling Thunder has led a "Ride for Freedom" along the National Mall during Memorial Day weekend, a full-throttle demonstration in support of soldiers held captive or missing in action. On Sunday, riders began at the Pentagon, rode across the Memorial Bridge and gathered at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

2. Please put him in the driver's seat of a Hog. PLEASE.
He'd run himself into a tree within thirty seconds. I'd dearly love to see him try to ride a motorcycle.

10. Yeah, put the goofus on one of those hogs!
Better yet, give him one of his own in case he miraculously gets off unbruised after the first ride.

3. Now if we could just get him to dress up like an Indian chief.
He will have managed to complete his entire dress up as the Village People.

6. Those faux-macho closet cases
infest this area every Memorial Day. These dimwits embrace Fuckface, and, let's not forget, eschewed supporting a true war hero, John Kerry.

I'll wager their little exhibitionistic antics would be severely curtailed if they were forced to wear business suits and drive Priuses for their annual trek here to show off their pretty outfits.

They really are a disgusting bunch.

18. This has got to be a paid for event. Why would any allegedly pro-vet group welcome Bush?
He ain't looking for missing US military in Vietnam.

And he sure isn't looking after current vets.

I just don't get it.

20. Anyone think these faux bullies will give Obama a jacket next year?
Highly doubt it, and that will be okay by me.

Memorial Day weekend of 1994, my wife, FIL, MIL, and I traveled to DC. Of course, these knuckleheads were all over DC on their bikes. When we went to the Vietnam memorial, my MIL began to put out her cigarette before entering the area. At that same time, a brute of a biker ordered her gruffly to put it out. My MIL was in the process of doing that, and said so. His tone was confrontational, like he was looking for a fight. I was pissed because he was making himself "the law" and was obviously there to harass and bully anyone who didn't follow protocol. I'll never forget that, and the sight of those faux patriots every Memorial Day on tv makes me want to hurl. The Repigs can have them, as far as I'm concerned.

21. I just lost a ton of respect for the Rolling Thunder - seriously!
This is an idiot that vetoed the GI Bill - a bill that was specifically created to increase benefits and support for our soldiers. It's passing because that dumbass in the white house was outmaneuvered with the veto override.

So why the Rolling Thunder, a group that for ages have supported our troops, would make Bush an 'honorary member' clearly shows that this motorcycle group doesn't have a fricking clue about what Bush has really done!

Learned that in 94 after a confrontation with one (look at my post above). Can't stand them.

27. Bush has been kissing their ass since he was Gov of Texas, and I have no doubt big $$$ went
to Rolling Thunder's ruling members - dollars and business contracts and 'donations' from Bush cronies. RT used to protest GHWBush, and Junior wanted to gain their favor the same way he worked to schmooze the Evangelical vote - elaborate role-playing.

24. You don't need a helmet, Bush!
Ride fast on dark, rainy nights without your helmet please. Have a few drinks before you head out. Throw caution to the wind.

You know. Like you did when you got us engaged in Iraq...
