Poll question: So, can Scott McClellan buy back his soul?
Titled with apologies to Bob Dylan's "Masters of War."

1. No, he has blood on his hands
As do we all.

2. Meh, I tend to disagree with that sentiment.
If you disagreed with this war from the beginning, if you fought against it and marched against it and wrote against it and screamed against it and lashed out with the sort of fury that only a person concerned with the salvation of his or her country's collective soul can muster, then I don't think you have blood on your hands. You fought the good fight, and even though you failed, still, you fought.

3. I know, but
if more of us had been willing to do a lot more, like go to jail, it wouldn't made a much bigger impact. I feel like the only ethically consistent thing would be to do something that lands me in jail, probably. And I haven't gone that far. I have tried to change minds.

5. People HAVE gone to jail
Millions protested before the war. It doesn't make any difference.

Democracy died December 12, 2000. That's the day the SCOTUS ruled to stop the recounts in FL.

6. I did manage to get myself arrested.
But, believe me, all that does is create a great deal of hassle for you and none for the people upstairs. You tried your best, we all did. I don't have blood on my hands, and neither do you. And while I can't speak for you, I know that I sleep at night just fine.

7. I voted 'good start.' How much did John Dean go along with before he straightened out?

8. And just like Scotty, Dean straightened out after the crooks leaned on him too hard.
It's one thing to go out and lie to the press, knowing that you're lying to them. It's quite another to be made the whipping boy.
