Lanny Davis criticizes McClellan for revealing too much
Edited on Thu May-29-08 09:38 PM by autorank
... from private conversations. It was about 9:34 and the transcripts will be up at CNN in the next fewhours.

King had Wexler, Davis, Kelly Anne something, and another Republican. He starts with Wexler, who
says, McClellan will testiry. Then it's Davis'turn. I figured, load up Lanny, knockit out of the
park.

Davis says, in a dimunitive style, well he broke "one of my rules" - never revealing a private c
conversation.

What a total asshole he is. Sorry to use that term abut he earned it.

On Edit:

Lanny, should Scott McClellan have revealed this:

McClellan Points to Bush in Cover Up

Where are the Headlines?

http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/HL0711/S00389.htm

Former Bush press secretary Scott McClellan accused George W. Bush and Dick Cheney of deceiving the public about a devastating blow to the national security and safety of United States. The revelation concerns the leak of Valerie Plame's identity as one of the government's top intelligence agents. Revealed in the Chicago Sun Times on July 14, 2003, this breach of national security was the topic of intense coverage in the mainstream print and television news media.

This deliberate leak abruptly ended Plame's intelligence activities, her career, and placed Plame and her contacts in serious jeopardy.
Snip "The most powerful leader in the world had called upon me to speak on his behalf and help restore credibility he lost amid the failure to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. So I stood at the White house briefing room podium in front of the glare of the klieg lights for the better part of two weeks and publicly exonerated two of the senior-most aides in the White House: Karl Rove and Scooter Libby.

"There was one problem. It was not true.

"I had unknowingly passed along false information. And five of the highest ranking officials in the administration were involved in my doing so: Rove, Libby, the vice President, the President's chief of staff, and the President himself." Scott McClellan, Public Affairs (McClellan's Publisher) Web Site

In otherwords Bush told McClellan to lie in behalf of Rove and Libby.

AND DAVIS THINKS IT'S WRONG TO TELL US CITIZENS THAT SINCE IT WAS A "PRIVATE CONVERSATION."

NOW THERE'S A GUY WHO PUTS THE PEOPLE FIRST!

Here's what the New York Daily News said about the above quotation from McClellan's book
back in November 2007:

Pretty straight forward. Bush had Scott lie for the sake of Rove and Libby.

That was my imediate thought when he started backpeddling.
Wexler was strong and focused. Then Davis scrunched up his face and I tought, "here goes." And he
didn't disappoint. What a total weenie. McClellan was revealing information that could help
stop the people doing all the damage. But then, again, maybe Davis is one of those people.

39. Yep:
Moreover, Davis has also been involved in at least one politically controversial episode himself. In the late 1990s as a lobbyist for Patton Boggs, he successfully convinced the U.S. government to provide Pakistan a slate of F-16 jets the country had purchased but, because of its newly nuclear status, had not received. The move did not sit well with India or some foreign policy officials. Nor for that matter does Davis's current opinion that Pakistan should be as well-armed as its democratic neighbor.

He certainly hasn't seemed like one since he was on TV practically 24 hours a day arguing for Lieberman over Lamont after Lamont won the Democratic nomination for CT Senate.

From Lanny's wiki:

"According to an item in U.S. News & World Report, as part of his initiation into the fraternity, Davis underwent hazing by, among others, the future U.S. president George W. Bush."

It's kinda hard to go lower than letting bush beat on ya.

22. Ted Koppel+Town Hall+Lanny Davis
So one night (September 10) in 2006 Ted Koppel held a Town Hall meeting hosted by Discovery Network. The subject for the evening was "The Price of Security." People were quite riled up about the spying, and the shredding of our Constitution. Just as the conversation started scratching at the truth up popped Lanny Davis to swear that bush and the republicans would never do anything to step on our rights and freedoms. You see, Lanny Davis was bush hand-picked Democrat:

"President Bush appointed Davis to serve as the only Democrat on the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board."

This is the super-special group that reports to the Congress that everything that happens that seems weirdly undemocratic, is actually A-OK. After I picked my jaw up off the floor, I vowed that I'd be watching for Lanny. To date: I can report that whatever the issue Davis is never ever on my side.

34. People like Lanny always provide cover
Then they can say, "Even Democrats....blah, blah, blah"

Joining Lanny in defending bush at that Town Hall was none other than Zoe Baird. She was sitting with him.

From Baird's wiki: "She has worked for General Electric and was general counsel of Aetna.<2>" She was also a Clinton nominee for Attorney General...hand picked by Hillary.

Machine politics is never good for America.

Yep, weasels every where ya look. Baird is now on the Board of Trustees at the Brookings. That would be a so-called Liberal think tank.

God, I'm sick of these people. Paying both sides is an old trick.

30. How about that!
:sarcasm:
What integrity Lanny showed. Even though he's a loyal Democrat, he stood up
for President Bush and the administration - defended their right to privacy
while committing crimes. It's a hard job, a hard job, and Lanny is doing it,
not just for himself but for all of us. The right to criminal acts in the
privacy of the White House is, afterall, somewhere in the Constitution. I know
it is. I'll look it up right now!

Is the truth of government too precious to be revealed, let alone entrusted, to We the People?

Does Executive Privilege absolve crimes committed under the aegis of the White House?

No.

And apparently, Executive Privilege doesn't mean that you can use a decent guy to peddle lies, and expect that he'll let his decency be subsumed to a legacy of lies.
