I have twenty-percenters in my family
Them: "There hasn't been another terrorist attack, so Bush must be doing something right."

Me: "But what about the first one, that he didn't prevent?"

Them: "That was Clinton's fault."

 :banghead:

2. Well, there's the other point of view, too..........
You can just doll them up in festival garb and plunk them right at the dining room table. It does tend to stimulate discussion.

4. True, They Can Add A Bit Of Humor When One Is In The
right mood. But then one might remember how many people fell for the same chit and where it led us and the mood might wear off fairly quickly.

. . . ignored the Aug 6 PDB.

Anytime someone pulls the "no terrst attacks since Nahn 'Levn" crap, immediately start clapping repeatedly.

"Why are you clapping?"

"To prevent the TIGERS from attacking!"

"But, there aren't any tigers?"

"Unbelievable! This clapping thing is working better than I thought!"

Somehow, though, I think that little tidbit will fly right over their heads.

8. yup, it's the whole cause and effect thing
some people just don't get it. It reminds me of a joke.

This little old lady goes to see her doctor. She says "Doctor, I have a gas problem. I fart all the time. The farts don't make any noise and don't smell, but I fart all day long, Should I be concerned?"

The doctor gives her an odd look, gives her some pills and tells her to come back in a week.

She comes back in a week and says "Doctor, I don't know what you gave me but my farts are really loud now. All day long there's a thunderous booming noise coming out of my behind. I'm not taking any more of your pills."

The doctor looks at her dismissively and says "Ok, now that we've fixed your hearing, let's see what's wrong with your nose."

9. I avoid family event for that very reason
I have two brothers who were military intelligence. Trust me they bring all new meaning to that oxymoron.
