This morning a man came to my house to cut a tree down.
He turned his truck around in the neighbor's drive way. Tree man told me that the guy came outside, got right in his face, and yelled at him about ruining his grass. Tree man defended himself. Neighbor came out and wrote down the man's license plate number and the license plate number on his trailer.
He said the man had an illegal trailer.
Tree man comes down and reports this to me. I go down to his house and knock on his door. He sticks his head out the backdoor and starts screaming "Get off my property!! I've already called the cops! I've got a lawyer!".
I said "I'm a lawyer". He said, "No, you're a court reporter". I said "Thanks a lot!".
Later I went down to his house and stood in the street and took pictures of him. I also took a picture of the place by the driveway where the tree man drove on the grass. That part of the lawn was in the utility easement that belongs to the city.
He came out and rolled up his hose and said "I hope you're not practicing law without a license". (I'm not)
He said, "I called the Department of Transportation (which is in Austin) about that illegal trailer." I said nothing while filming him.
Calling the "cops" and calling the Department of Transportation are not the same thing.
I assume this guy doesn't want any Hispanics in the hood cuz he's a spoiled white guy. He used to leer at my teenaged daughter. She and her friends crossed the street to avoid him.
This guy is a typical hot tempered litigious bastard. I know the type. They can ruin your life, especially if you work at the courthouse.
I have a law degree (Juris Doctor) but do not have a license. I do not practice law, in spite of what he thinks. I wish he'd mind his own business instead of worrying about my legal education.
Thank Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and Buddha that we're moving out soon!!!
These people act like they have deed restrictions and they don't. The hood is too old for that. They just like to hassle people about their precious lawns.
I had another neighbor who constantly called the City, several years ago.
The City inspector said they complained about my having "sticks in my yard", "leaves around the base of trees" and "poison ivy on my back fence" (how would she be able to get to the middle of my back fence to see it?).
The city inspector didn't know what poison ivy looked like and I didn't either.
I never got a ticket for any of these things because they were not true.
This witch and her hubby had twins, so they are too busy to call the City now!!
:wtf:

I'm sure they came right away!
Really, they're too busy figuring out how to separate motorists from their cash.

2. What's that old line about |
|
good fences make for good neighbors?
You never know if you have Dr. Frankenstein living next door, do you? Well, no harm done, and you're moving out, so that's good.
By the way, having a J.D. doesn't make a lawyer - it makes you someone with a J.D. When you take the bar exam, and pass, and get a license, then you're a lawyer. But, don't tell your neighbor this.
