Get ready for media abandonment of Obama |
|
The Democratic race is over and the 'disunity' is dying down remarkably quickly. There is no story there any more.
Watch for the media to shift gears and start covering McCain in a very favorable light. And for any coverage of Obama to be minimal and largely negative to neutral.

just as it didn't accurately report the crowds protesting the war.

he sure generates a lot of excitement wherever he goes. I am more inclined to think they will watch his every move watching for any misstatement, or anything negative they can spend three days reporting on.

18. And what Hillary dealt with during the primary was nothing |
|
compared to what she would have faced in the GE - she was much more vulnerable (and most of her negatives were of her own creation).
But at least you acknowledge he was negatively attacked by the MSM and not treated gingerly, that's a start.

You made the assumption that Skittles' post meant that the media had been kind to Obama, when she said no such thing. Thus far the media has gone after both, even if after Clinton a little tougher. They have been divided in their bashing because she has been in the race, now that she is out they will turn their full attention to Obama. We haven't seen anything yet, the firestorm to be directed at Obama is just beginning.

25. LOL, she is the one that brought hillary into the thread, my posts |
|
were legitimate responses to her posts and her assumption (like your own) that hillary's treatment by the press was tougher than obama's. Simple example to prove how wrong you both are. During the last debate they went after obama AGAIN about that stupid flag pin - while they were grilling him they didn't bother to ask hillary about the flag pin when (a) she wasn't wearing one and (b) she never wears one. Sexist? Does she not deserve to be treated to the same inquiries as her male opponent? Equality - had there been equal treatment then she would have been subjected to the same silly assed questions. That bullshit that night also proved how it was her handling of the campaign, her allowing the negative, senseless crap to be used without saying a damned thing. She should have said "this is a non issue, I don't wear the pin either and it is not because I am not patriotic, it is because I don't wear them. can we move on to discussing the issues."
While she allowed the cheap, one sided shots Obama didn't play her game. When asked about her Bosnia lies (yes, they were lies) he let her explain it away instead of calling her on the lies. He showed more respect to her during the campaign than she did to him.
I know and Obama know that more is coming, that is not news. I still say it would have been much nastier if it were hillary in the GE.

26. We'll agree to agree that Dems are treated horribly by the media |
|
I didn't read Skittles' post the same way you did, since I didn't take it to argue that Obama had been treated kindly by the media, just that we haven't seen anything yet.
I don't know if it would have been worse with her as the nominee or not, since I think the media would go after any Dem in any way they need to to prop up the repub.

28. Actually, there has been more press coverage of the dems this |
|
time around - in '04 the press ignored the Kerry/Edwards rallies and campaign stops, they ignored the positives. The press focused was on Bush and the only time Kerry or Edwards got coverage was when they made mistakes or when something one of them did was considered a gaffe or could be used to make them look bad or, of course, the swiftboating.
No one who has followed politics over the last 15 or more years expects the press to be kind or fair.

The Right really does hate McSame. Even watching Faux News this morning with Chris Wallace, Bill Kristol didn't wasn't convinced and neither was Brit Hume. Don't ask me why I watched. I guess I wanted to see Tim Kaine and this guy Pawlenty. Kaine mopped the floor with Pawlenty! He was brilliant and had command of the issues. Pawlenty just looked stupid, like a deer caught in the headlights.

14. CNN with Rick Sanchez was pissing me off earlier because |
|
the asshole kept repeating all the Obama myths like the flag lapel pin, the Pledge of Allegiance fiasco, and the swearing in on the Quran thing. For almost an hour, he kept repeating (emphasis his, not mine) "Obama IS a muslim." or "Obama DOES NOT say the Pledge of Allegiance" and "Obama DID attend a madrasa." And then, when the "Obama Myths" segment finally began he would say "Obama IS a muslim....or is he?" Then he showed some stoopid fucks who drank the kool-aid and then he finally stated after each of 5 myths that they were false and explained why they were false.
Problem is, some of the stoopid people who left the broadcast before watching until the end only got the teasers before every commercial break where he made the above quoted statements WITHOUT also stating they were false.
