So, we're technically in Iraq BECAUSE of the Reagan Administration, right?
They gave Saddam the weapons and it is indisputable that the Reagan Administration had the CIA tell Saddam Hussein how to use chemical weapons in ways to inflict mass casualties and to break down the morale of Iran.

So...

One side of the right wing's mouth: Stay the course in Iraq (Even though we're there because of Ronald Reagan)
And the other side of the right wing's mouth: We will carry on the mantle of Ronald Reagan

I don't know whether to laugh at this or to try and find the door out of what seems to be a crazy backwards parallel universe.

1. Heh...which is exactly why some of us will not stop pointing out the war agenda is many decades old.
And only full exposure of their illegal operations over the years will CHANGE THE COURSE of history for the better.

Keep covering up for them the way Bill Clinton chose to do throughout the 90s and we'll end up eventually with another BFEE player in the WH.

2. Before Reagan. 1953, CIA took out their democratically elected leader
as a favor to the British who wanted to keep their hooks in Iranian oil.

During Carter, the hostage crisis results explicitly as payback for 1953.

3. No. We're in Iraq because of Monica Lewinsky
If she hadn't blown Bill Clinton and saved the blue dress, he'd never have been impeached.

If he hadn't been impeached, he would not have been perceived by Al Gore as a campaign liability.

If he'd campaigned with Gore, Gore would have won even more of the popular vote, easily.

If Gore had been declared the winner of the election, Fuckface and his cabal would never have made it to the Oval Office.

If Fuckface hadn't been anointed President and Gore had rightly taken the Oath of Office on January 20, 2001, we'd never have invaded Iraq.

So, that's why it's all Monica Lewinsky's fault.

5. Not so much Monica
More that evil Linda Tripp, who befriended Monica with the express purpose of exposing her affair with Bill.

That makes Tripp a vile sub-human creep in my world view. I'm glad she's going down in history as such a repellant worthless reptile. Hey, she didn't even get to cash in on her betrayal of trust with a book or speaking deal, did she?

I hope she's living in hot plate heaven at the Green Hotel right now as I type!

6. Nope, Monica precedes Linda Tripp
But, I do join in your spot-on assessment of Tripp's character. This is rather nasty of me, but when I read that she'd been diagnosed with breast cancer, I couldn't help thinking that all that evilness had finally started to feast on the host.

She's living, last I heard, in Virginia's horse country, running some kind of "shoppe." I doubt she succeeded.

Remember John Goodman's impersonation of her on Saturday Night Live? With a mop as a wig? Talk about humor being deadly!

4. Heck, you can tract things back earlier...
The Kurdish uprisings in the 70's were goosed in part by the CIA (under Poppy Bush) helping to arm the Kurds via the Shah of Iran to pressure the Iraqi government (in which Saddam was on his way up) into an unfavorable treaty over the Shatt-al-Arab waterway. Once he signed it, aid to the Kurds was cut off and they were left to Saddam's mercies.

Also note that reversing this treaty was the stated cause for which Saddam launched his war on Iran, whaile it was in turmoil over the revolution.
