82. An impeachment is divisive, and will generate pity for Bush.
You don't think that everyone knows what a corrupt piece of shit the man is? 80% of the country says we're on the wrong track. Americans know president dipshit is a tainted, evil puppet.

But give him a chance to paint himself as a victim? That'll mobilize the base and generate pity support for McCain. Remember that NYTimes article on McCain and lobbyists? It was true, but the base rallied around McCain because they saw it as liberal bullying.

But hey, throw away the election again.

127. What would be better would be to instead try to start fixing some of the problems right now.
But no, we have to make a stand against George W. Hitler!

As for O'Reilly, it's not so much the moderates I'd worry watch that as the base. They're demoralized right now, but get them fired up, and they'll spin this to "Look! Those Dems are crazy and just want revenge!" to the moderates, which will look like more partisanship, losing us moderate votes.

Of course, some moderates will hear it and it will hurt their views of the Dems.

That would be great but highly doubtful.

As for those nutzoids who worship mrbush and think any application of responsibility for his actions is wrong, guess what. This won't change their minds.

Of course, some moderates will hear the list of crimes and it will change their minds into being more skeptical of McSame.

of moderates who are sick of this shit as well. Congress has a lower approval rating because they've failed to stand up to this and stop it. This will be much better received than you're predicting.

Right at the end of the primaries? With a message of changing politics as usual? I think it was coordinated with the campaign

If you have concerns, maybe you should call him yourself? Do you have a phone, or access to one? How about access to the internet? Maybe you could find somewhere, somehow to get on the internet and contact him yourself? Maybe one of that 1/2 the country will loan you a phone, or internet so you can contact him? If not, posting a request on DU, as a new topic, might be a good idea as we are such a helpful community. To other members. maybe?

Again, that's what happened with the NYtimes article on McCain and lobbyists. The base rallied to his support because, despite its accusations of corruption being true, they still saw it as liberals picking on a Republican, one which I might add they DON'T support normally.

92. Yes, the country knows how corrupt Bush is, yet they still don't support impeachment.
It will paint Bush as the victim of liberal bullying, regardless of the veracity.

Remember the NY Times article on McCain and that lady lobbyist? It was entirely true, but the base and some moderates saw it as angry liberals picking on McCain, and they rallied around him.

This would generate the same effect, potentially losing us the election.

Now, tell me, what's more important: Winning the next election and fixing all these problems, or continuing with these circuses and letting the drunk-on-power Repubs get behind the wheels for four more years?

189. He can "defend himself" just fine from wherever he is
Air Force One has all the best communications equipment, reporters have links back to their networks, Bush brought his spin team with him...even as we speak, there are people sitting there formulating Bush's response to DK's articles of impeachment.

I predict, as do most of us, that Bush's response to the articles of impeachment will follow one of three paths:

Path 1: This is a totally partisan attack on a sitting president and it is completely patriotic to not support the president in a time of war. The acts we are taking have ensured that no terrorist attacks have occurred in the United States since the tragedies of September 11th.

Path 2: These baseless slanders are completely false, and I would be happy to prove that in a court of law. Unfortunately for me, the Constitution says I cannot answer these charges in a court of law, so I must stand here and be insulted by the man who let the Cuyahoga River catch fire while I was heroically and successfully defending the peaceful village of Ciudad de Juarez, Mexico, from Viet Cong invasion.

Path 3: Get out your copy of The Blues Brothers and forward to the scene where John Belushi explains to Carrie Fisher why he skipped their wedding.

190. No, no. Carrier pigeon.
He'll return his resignation as a note in a whiskey bottle cast into the ocean.

That's why there's a full bottle of Jack Daniel's on Air Force One. If he has to resign, they'll empty the bottle and insert the note.

They will of course empty the bottle into Bush. There are training drills for this very eventuality. Every time Bush gets on Air Force One, he goes through the same drill: empty the bottle, write out his resignation (text of the message: "Screw you guys, I'm going home") and shove it in the bottle. They then destroy the bottle so it doesn't accidentally fall into the wrong hands.

You can see the results of these training drills: just look at the photos from any Air Force Academy graduation, especially the one in 2007 where he just about staggered off the stage.

Cause if so, they can piss up a rope...

What it will generate is suspicion that the Dems are weak, divided, vindictive or even that they take cheap shots.

That's not what we need right now.

But of course, they didn't campaign against us last time, right?

This will help motivate the base to protect their dear leader from the big bad Democrats, and by extension, McCain.

The Dems are trying to look like the moderate, sane party in this election. This play is exactly what the Republicans are hoping for.

I think they'll laugh at Dennis, not rally the troops behind Bush on this. They don't want to talk about Bush's record. Drawing attention to this would not be what they want - thus it's not being covered on any news networks.

They are all named as conspirators of Bush's Impeachable Offenses. And are all on Public Record in their aiding & abetting Bush's crimes.
Conspiracy.

159. And this is the brilliance of what Dennis has done. Reading this COMPREHENSIVE list of
bush*'s impeachable offenses into the Congressional Record will always ensure the crimes can never be swept under the table. And the research to tie it all together...heh heh heh. Dovetails rather nicely with Scott McClellan's invitation to speak before committee.

And let's not delude ourselves, the Congressional appeasers and collaborators will do everything possible to NOT ACT on these Ariticles. But no matter. This gives a road map of crimes to prosecute AFTER cheney*/bush* is out of power and can't use the power of Presidential pardon.

Wake up America!:kick:

I've never seen anything like this before.
And I lived through Watergate.

Bush should be arrested as soon as he "de-planes" AF1

What a night.

Every call-in show should be inundated with callers asking for the discussion of Kucinich's speech tonight.
They shoudl be asked until there is a response in Dennis's favor.
We want open discussion.

I will start calling tomorrow morn. If they don't take my call...I'll just try again.

Even if Pelosi and the rest of the collaborators and appeasers can't/won't act, the groundwork is laid for the next Congress to pursue this further.

on edit: and yes, cheney*/bush* will be out of office, so impeachment will not be valid. However, what is the statute of limitations for treason and war crimes?
