What is the deal with these McCain ads?
I am in Wisconsin and I've seen the "I hate war" ad at least 7 times since this afternoon and already twice in the last half hour (from 11 pm to 11:30 pm). You'd swear the GE was right around the corner. What will it be like in October?

1. October is going to be 527 month. Obama should hit first imo.

5. The more ads he runs...
the sooner he runs out of money. Think of it that way.

In fact, I think I will drop him a line telling him how great they are! :patriot:

2. One surefire way to avoid sleezy GOP campaign ads...
stop watching commercial TV!

I got rid of my TV in March and haven't missed it a bit.

6. Sorry, I don't subscribe to the popular notion that one cannot be a good Liberal
and still watch tv (unless, of course, it is only PBS). There seems to be more than a hint of implied intellectual superiority contained within that attitude. I have no intention of ever getting rid of my tv. I know of some very, very conservative Pentecostals who do not believe in having tvs because they think it is worldly entertainment and ungodly and they feel so superior because of their shunning tv viewing that it would put any Liberal to shame. It's funny how the line curves at the ends.

But it's always the very same McCain commercial and it is not even well done, or medium rare.

7. It has nothing to do with being a "Good Liberal"
It's all about the "annoyance factor." Much of the programming, commercials in general and right-wing political ads in particular provided far more aggravation than information and entertainment. That my set was 22 years old and destined for the scrap heap anyway made the decision easier.

9. There is some Liberal intellectual strutting here by those who could not lower themselves
to watch tv. I found the contrast with the very conservative Pentecostals who do not have tvs either to be interesting and how they also consider themselves to be "better" because of it. Just as you don't eat everything that is available to you it is possible to be selective in what is watched on tv.

There are some commercials on tv now that are very entertaining, but the McCain ad is not one of them and I already have seen it twice this morning. It's almost as bad as the "Can you hear me now?" ads. Before the primary here in Wisconsin I saw many Obama ads that were not only good, but inspiring. The frequency of those ads are not even close to the number of the very same McCain ad I am seeing so often.

4. You're in a battleground...
...before the GE McCain will have done at least seventeen of those issue chameleon things he seems so good at. Hopefully the 3.5 extra years of Dubya has finally managed to smack a good chunk of voters off the head with the good sense stick and they won't fall for it.

One thing I have learned, though, from the Republicans... they attack an opponents strengths, so the fact that they keep saying X or Y "raises serious questions about Obama's judgement" makes me pretty sure Obama's got some damn good judgement.

8. And he is going to run out money
Let him. Obama will outspend him 10-1, and his ads will be last to air.
