HELP? Has anyone ever had a problem with using a wireless keyboard?
The keyboard seems to be working fine... and I am composing a post to submit to the Democratic Underground.

Then... quite unexpectedly, it starts typing the WRONG LETTERS. I've had this problem come up a few times in the past week since my husband bought this keyboard.

If I close down the DU, and then restart it, everything returns to normal. This ONLY seems to be happening when I am logged in to the DU.

In the same session, if I go to another website, (such as Comcast email, a completely different interface) the keyboard seems to work OK.

In a day full of problems, this is just another one.

Any suggestions gratefully appreciated,

Radio Lady

1. It's a woo woo thing. Probably nothing you can do about it, actually.
Sorry. :D

2. I havaven't had THAT problem with a wireless keyboard
However, one thing I've found is that the farther you get away from the hub the less responsive the keyboard becomes, and so you may miss some letters. However, I've never run into the problem of typing the wrong letters.

3. Wireless? Maybe if you found the wire. Or went to Walmart and bought a replacement wire.
You can't plug it in without a wire, right?

4. It sounds like there is a Rebublican in there
Try shaking him out...

What brand is the keyboard?
I have a Logitech and it's never done anything like that, although since I reinstalled Windoz,
the keyboard settings will not survive a reboot. I hate that and I haven't a clue how to fix it.

5. I had the EXACT same problem once.
...well, it was a wired keyboard...

...and it was 3:00 am...

...and I had been drinking heavily...

You haven't been drinking, have you?

7. Well, I thought about posting this in the DU Lounge... seems like I'm almost there!

The wireless keyboard with its own mouse -- is made by MICROSOFT. Now, what could be wrong about that?

(Boo-hoo...)

10. My laptop once decided I no longer needed an "m" key
but the nice man came to my house & fixed it for me :)

It really showed me how many words actually needed that "m " key :)

21. And we probably try to correct your spelling here! How thoughtless of us!
You'd be all set to type the Cockney English dialect... but if you want to lose the accent, you're in trouble.

8. That happened after I spilled grape juice in my wireless keyboard.
Now I just use cheap, wired keyboards. ;)

14. I have a month to return this sucker... you can be sure I will if we can't fix it.
But how do I explain that it happens while I'm at the DU...

Next time, I'll shift to some other website and try to use it.

By the way, I had a lot of problems seeing NanceGreggs and Call Me Wesley's journals...

That isn't a concern anymore. :hi:

9. If it has batteries, try changing them
I have the MS wireless comfort keyboard and batteries need to go into the keyboard; I'm not sure about the wireless hub, it's stuck under my desk with blue-tac and if I take it down to check I'll never get it to stick again! But check both and replace any batteries you find.

11. New keyboard?

Two things to check.

First, are the batteries fresh?

Second, do you have another wireless keyboard anywhere close? I've seen that happen in such cases. It can cause "cross talk" between the devices.

Thanks for your help.

15. Sometimes "reconnecting" helps.. hitting the button on the bottom of the keyboard
and the button on the receiver. It's an easy way to squeeze the life out of a low battery.

Did you try the button under it? Press and hold down to reset?

25. LOL. That turned out to be lies, all lies... as I recall.
My husband just moved the wireless hub to a better position. That may be the answer!

drove me crazy! I finally switched back to the wired mouse and keyboard.

Check for other wireless devices as someone else mentioned.

27. Ha-ha! We don't use chewing tobacco!
Plug Tobacco Category

Plug chewing tobacco is made by pressing together cured tobacco leaves in a sweet (often molasses-based) syrup. Originally this was done by hand, but since the second half of the 19th century leaves were pressed between large tin sheets. The resulting sheet of tobacco is cut into plugs. Like twist, consumers sometimes cut, but more often bite off a piece of the plug to chew.

Husband just crawled around under my desk... pulled a bundle of wires and repositioned the wireless hub -- so I'm just humming along.

Thanks, rug
