Declaration, Reloaded
While reading the 35 Articles of Impeachment, I was reminded of another list of grievances. So I got to work. Let me know what you think. I got a bit tired at the end, so I hope it's OK.

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of humankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all persons are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among the People, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience has shown, that humankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.--Such has been the patient sufferance of these Citizens; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the current President of the United States, George W. Bush, is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.

For Creating a Secret Propaganda Campaign to Manufacture a False Case for War Against Iraq.

For Falsely, Systematically, and with Criminal Intent Conflating the Attacks of September 11, 2001, With Misrepresentation of Iraq as a Security Threat as Part of Fraudulent Justification for a War of Aggression.

For Misleading the American People and Members of Congress to Believe Iraq Possessed Weapons of Mass Destruction, to Manufacture a False Case for War.

For Misleading the American People and Members of Congress to Believe Iraq Posed an Imminent Threat to the United States.

For Illegally Misspending Funds to Secretly Begin a War of Aggression.

For Invading Iraq in Violation of the Requirements of HJRes114.

For Invading Iraq Absent a Declaration of War.

For Invading Iraq, A Sovereign Nation, in Violation of the UN Charter.

For Failing to Provide Troops With Body Armor and Vehicle Armor

For Falsifying Accounts of US Troop Deaths and Injuries for Political Purposes

For Establishment of Permanent U.S. Military Bases in Iraq

For Initiating a War Against Iraq for Control of That Nation's Natural Resources

For Creating a Secret Task Force to Develop Energy and Military Policies With Respect to Iraq and Other Countries

For Misprision of a Felony, Misuse and Exposure of Classified Information And Obstruction of Justice in the Matter of Valerie Plame Wilson, Clandestine Agent of the Central Intelligence Agency

For Providing Immunity from Prosecution for Criminal Contractors in Iraq

For Reckless Misspending and Waste of U.S. Tax Dollars in Connection With Iraq and US Contractors

For Illegally Detaining Indefinitely And Without Charge Persons Both U.S. Citizens and Foreign Captives

For Secretly Authorizing, and Encouraging the Use of Torture Against Captives in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Other Places, as a Matter of Official Policy

For Kidnapping People and Taking Them Against Their Will to "Black Sites" Located in Other Nations, Including Nations Known to Practice Torture

For Imprisoning Children

For Misleading Congress and the American People About Threats from Iran, and Supporting Terrorist Organizations Within Iran, With the Goal of Overthrowing the Iranian Government

For Creating Secret Laws

For Violation of the Posse Comitatus Act

For Spying on American Citizens, Without a Court-Ordered Warrant, in Violation of the Law and the Fourth Amendment

For Directing Telecommunications Companies to Create an Illegal and Unconstitutional Database of the Private Telephone Numbers and Emails of American Citizens

For Announcing the Intent to Violate Laws with Signing Statements

For Failing to Comply with Congressional Subpoenas and Instructing Former Employees Not to Comply

For Tampering with Free and Fair Elections, and Corruption of the Administration of Justice

For Conspiring to Violate the Voting Rights Act of 1965

For Misleading Congress and the American People in an Attempt to Destroy Medicare

For Failure to Plan for the Predicted Disaster of Hurricane Katrina, and Failure to Respond to a Civil Emergency

For Misleading Congress and the American People, Systematically Undermining Efforts to Address Global Climate Change

For Repeatedly Ignoring and Failing to Respond to High Level Intelligence Warnings of Planned Terrorist Attacks in the US, Prior to 911.

For Obstruction of the Investigation into the Attacks of September 11, 2001

For Endangering the Health of 911 First Responders


In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our Representatives and Senators. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by the President to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of their election, and of their duties under the Constitution. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations. With few exceptions, They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, hold them, by their words, actions, silence, and inactions, complicit in these abuses of power.

We, therefore, the People of the United States of America, declare, That all political connection between us and the President of the United States, George W. Bush, and those others complicit in his high crimes and misdemeanors, ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent Citizens, we have full Power to Impeach, Vote, exert Pressure on Corporations, hold a General Strike, Demonstrate, hold Trials for War Crimes, and to do all other Acts and Things which We the People may of right do in order to remove from office and punish these criminals.

6. Huh! Article 23 references the Declaration and the King!
In describing violation of the Posse Comitatus Act, Rep. Kucinich compares Bush's actions to those of King George!

2. Kicking this so hard it hurts my foot! EXCELLENT!


So now all we need is to put that into a similar font as the first Declaration of Independence, with a parchment-type background, then onto websites, posters, t-shirts, etc!

Yes, the old font on parchment would be cool!

I also wonder if a video could be put together with a different person taking each line. Hmmmm.
