CLARK is our choice if we want a leader to take us out of this mess.
I supported Clark in 2004. In fact, his candidacy in 2004 led to my first ever online contributions to not only his run but also Kerry's when he became the nominee. Clark electrified me with his intellect. It's been a long time since I felt the candidate was smarter than me and I'm not a genius.

I still have a Clark 2004 avatar and have not felt the need to update as my opinion since 2004 has not changed. Clark is the only man who can lead us out of the troubles we are in.

Senator Webb's response to the SOTU reinforced my opinion. It is men like him and Clark who will save this Nation. Leaders like them will lead us from the darkness.

Clark's experience in foreign affairs and his intellect generally surpasses all other candidates. This is the kind of person you elect President!

Clark, once he announces will dominate internet contributions. Others may have locked up (they think) the big bucks donors, but I believe Clark will dominate the netroots contributions. Us little folks can also generate big bucks!

1. If Obama wins the nomination, I think Clark should be his VP--and vice versa
Edited on Thu Jan-25-07 01:05 AM by rocknation
I think that's the best-qualified, MSM-indepenent and Rethug-proof ticket we've got.

2. Clark was the first candidate I ever actively supported.
Edited on Thu Jan-25-07 01:07 AM by Clarkie1
With time and money. That led to supporting Jerry McNerney in both 04' and 06'. So, it's Clark who got me involved in politics also, and I share your sentiments.

Edit: I also supported Kerry in 04', but since I'm in California I felt the local congressional race was a better place to put my energies.

:hi:

3. Hear Hear Diane!. . .Couldn't agree more. . .
I was just about ready to call it a night, and then I read your post. . .I had the same "electrified" experience over Wes Clark in 2004 and still do.

I'll only add that once he enters this race, another inevitability will unfold besides netroots' support. . .

his plans and debate will far outshine any of these wannabees lined up so far because he will speak from exceptional intellect, hard-earned battlefield experience, and genuine patriotism.

All the others will just be winging it!

Let the debates begin. . .I know our candidate is ready. . .and won't need a speech coach or prep!

In fact, just watch and keep track how the others "take" or "steal" (whichever word you prefer) Clark's actual ideas and even wording. . .

Can you just sense how the Republicans and Presstitutes are desperately hoping Clark does not run. . .bwaaahaaaahaaa. . .

Make a big batch of popcorn, Diane, as we watch the cavalcade to stop Clark.

Hell, I say, the hardest part for Clark is to decide WHEN TO ANNOUNCE his run, the rest will be a piece of cake.

6. I believe Americans are waiting for Clark to announce
They know a leader when they see one. Many have wondered why the General has spent so much time as a commentator on Fox...Think..Where else are you going to find the disaffected? This is a man who appeals to ALL Americans. We know leadership when we see it and Clark exhibits every quality of a potentially great president.

I hope Clark announces soon. We need him. He needs to serve our country one last time.

5. I totally agree.
My ideal scenario would have Clark as president for only one term. Let him use his experience and focus on this Iraq fiasco and implementing policies for real national security. Meanwhile, Vice President Obama (:woohoo:) can focus on domestic issues and the next election :applause:

but I'd vote for an Obama/Clark ticket for sure. Not the biggest Obama fan, but he IS a wonderful speaker, and I'd still defenitely vote for him.

10. He's a very practical choice...I feel like he's perfect on Iraq
we need somebody who can manage a war but loves peace, and thinks of peace as the goal. Wes Clark is perfect. I need more about how global warming fits in to his plans though...What role can unions play in building a more sustainable world?

13. I do really like Clark
Last election, I almost supported him over Howard Dean and some of my friends thought I had lost it to vote for "an ex-Republican." Since then, most of them have heard enough of him to see what a great candidate he really is.

That said, if Al Gore runs, I will support him over anyone but Clark is probably my number two. I know you Clarkies want him to be number one on the ticket, but I think a Gore/Clark ticket would be the best. If Gore doesn't run, though....Clark/Obama sounds awfully good, too.

15. Why is Clark never considered ......
for the job he would be most suited for; Secretary of Defense?

You know, it's not some meaningless cabinet post. What Rumsfeld did under his tenure was nothing short of monstrous and he wielded tremendous power within the admin. Maybe Clark could go in and fix the mess Scummy has left in his wake. It's an important job and Clark may just be the guy up to the task.

I can't remember when he retired. But he is fair and brilliant and looks for solutions. He won't be working for the CEOs if he's elected.

At least, that's what DUers have said here. I can't remember when he left. I'd rather see him as Pres. I think he could do more for the country as pres than SecDef.

26. Clark/Obama '08. I could work my ass off for that ticket.
I worked from home on Clark's campaign in 2004 also. Called NH, TN, AR, etc in multiple primaries. I contributed on multiple occasions. This time I am poorer, and can't afford to give as much, but I can work from home!

25. Hi Diane!
I am a lurker since Oct '03. I don't post to much cause I tend to be long winded on what I feel passionate about. Then the thread is gone! But your post spoke to me .
I was at a yearly "kick-off"conferrence in Malta for the global company my husband works for. It was the week "shock and awe" began. We were with people from offices all over the world and we represented the first North American office. I cannot begin to describe the shame I felt for being an American. I never want to feel that way again. So I started searching for someone I could be proud to represent me as an American.
I was surprised but so thankfull to find what I was looking for in Wes Clark. I have been a complete supporter since I first reseached him as a candidate in Sept. '03. Everything I learned seemed to be too good to be true and I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. Well it's been two years and still waiting. He continues to impress me as an intelligent, compassionate, humble leader that truely wants to serve his country.
I have seen him numerous times and one thing that has always struck me was how Bush's war in Iraq has effected him. You can see and hear the anguish he feels when he speaks about this ill conceived war he told congress not to wage and it's effects on our military, our country, and the world.
After being wounded in Vietnam, Wes Clark as a Rhodes Scholar and first at West Point, had many opportunities before him. But after seeing the devastating effects of the draft and the Vietnam war he felt he could best serve his country by working to restore the all volunteer Armed Services. I believe with the lifetime of hard work and dedication Wes Clark and other military leaders had achieved this goal. I was a military wife for the first six years of my marriage from 86' to 92' and I can attest to this.
He is a true patriot that has fought hard for the ideals and values this country was founded on. The America that the majority of us know and love and feel we have lost. He has fought for the soldier and his family and now he wants to fight for us.

30. I hope he runs, and that he decides to do it soon,
before all the good campaign staffers get snapped up by the other candidates. He got some crappy campaign advice from the "leftovers" last time. I really, really want Clark to have some major role in the next administration -- if for some reason he doesn't run, or if another candidate gets the nomination, I sure hope he's VP or SoS. We need him.
