5. Incorrect! Here's the real lyrics... |
|
Who is the tall, dark stranger there? Maverick is the name. Rides the trail to who knows where, Luck is his companion, Gambling is his game.
Smooth as the handle on a gun, Maverick is the name. Wild as the wind in Oregon blowing up a canyon; easier to tame.
Riverboat, ring your bell! Fare thee well, Annabelle! Luck is the lady daddy loves the best. Passage to New Orleans, Living on Jacks and Queens, Maverick is the legend of the West.
You just put me in nostalgia mood. Reminded me when TV heroes had character and humor, when TV had real written shows and good actors, when Hollywood was about entertainment instead of megacorporate tie-ins. Now I'm going to be hunting eBay all night in vain for Maverick collections on DVD.
And to keep it in DU context, I think Obama would have a hell of a lot of fun playing Maverick on TV. McCain would be the evil banker villain in the show. Maverick Obama would come in, drop a few well-crafted witticisms, get the whole town on his side, and send Banker McCain running out of town with his pants around his ankles.
