...that's Glen Canyon dam (!)



And there it is as Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne authorized and supervised the releasing of more than 300,000 gallons of water per second from Lake Powell through the Glen Canyon Dam into the Colorado River.

Both Lake Powell and Glen Canyon Dam are upstream from Grand Canyon National Park near the Arizona-Utah border.

The man-made flood will restore sandbars that are essential to native plant and fish species and will continue for three days.

Elwha dam removal project cost rising to $308 million

Removal was supposed to begin next year, but date keeps moving and the cost just keeps going up.
