Washington Times columnist calls AIDS ‘the gift of the gays.’
In a op-ed yesterday attempting to cast doubt on man-made global warming, Washington Times columnist and editor emeritus Wesley Pruden opened with a line stating that the AIDS virus is "http://washingtontimes.com/news/2008/jun/17/pruden-not-dead-yet-and-cooling/">the gifts of the gays":

We were all supposed to be dead now, done in by AIDS, the gift of the gays. After that it was SARS, bequeathed to the world by China. Then it was avian flu, which, to be fair to the alarmists, did in fact result in the deaths of millions. The millions were all chickens, true, but chickens have feelings, too. You could ask the folks at PETA.

As Media Matters has documented, Pruden has a history of writing that heterosexuals having AIDS is a “myth,” even though the U.N. reported that, in 2005, 32 percent of all new AIDS infections in the U.S. were contracted by heterosexuals. (HT: Huffington Post)

How 1980's of him. What's his next article going to be about? The "4-H Club"?

4. We lost so many, too quickly.
And you'd think that after 25 'official' years of HIV, this stigma would cease to be perpetuated by the media.

Sorry for your loss.

8. Referring to the monkeys killed and eaten by humans in Africa
The flesh of such wild animals -- animals of the bush -- is commonly called "bush meat". AIDS probably arose when people ate monkeys infected with SIDS, and the virus mutated.

10. Yeah, that's the theory that I ascribe to.
I kept reading "bush" as "Bush" and how some people think Sr. concocted in the virus while in the CIA.

11. Hah. I didn't even think of that.
I think it's often spelled as one word, bushmeat, which might be less confusing.

12. And I was sitting there trying to figure out if this was a new theory.
That Bush had created something that infected the meat supply. Talk about over-thinking...

7. Actually, AIDS is the gift of the Apartheid Regime
No, I'm not saying they created it BTW, but they did have a hand in it spreading around when they thought that killing dissenters was a more important thing to do than tackling the then emerging disease.
