And what about the reliability of torture to attain good intel (aside from the illegality)? One of the arguments (put forth by torture advocates) is that breaking the law was worth it because the upside was preventing follow up attacks. This premise rests on the idea that torture works. It depends on the goal...did they seek reliable intel or false confessions? We know it worked in regards to false confessions.
