AS if Barack Obama doesn't have enough good will in his bid for the White House, along comes "Why I'm a Democrat." Former Page Six editor Susan Mulcahy, who interviewed 55 movers and shakers for her new book, notes, "GOP candidates often win simply by acting, as one Democrat observed, like the kids of folks you'd enjoy having over for a barbecue . . . the barbecue with no beef, as it were." Among her interviewees: Isaac Mizrahi, designer: "A certain kind of Republican says: to hell with the rest of the earth as long as I can have air conditioning." Dominick Dunne, author and Vanity Fair columnist: "I wasn't always a Democrat. I was a total (bleep)hole at that other time in my life . . . I once headed up a group called Catholics Against Kennedy. I cringe to write this." Tony Bennett: "The Republicans never stop talking about fear and terrorism. I like the old philosophy from FDR: You have nothing to fear but fear itself."
