The Wilsons need a response.
Edited on Thu Jan-25-07 08:52 AM by mmonk
There is a LTTE in the News & Observer that needs responding too. I cannot do it since I just had one published and they won't allow another one from me to be published until a certain amount of time passes. As one of those that signed up awhile back as quick response person for disinformation about them, I felt I should try and enlist someone else to do it. It's under letters and is titled "No case at all". You can respond with a simple click feature or send it to forum@newsobserver.com.

"The law forbids revealing the identity of an undercover CIA agent, or one who has been undercover in the previous five years. Valerie Plame had not been covert for more than five years at the time her identity was leaked, so there was no crime to prosecute."

Thank you in advance.

1. I'd rather not respond
I think it would be more effective if someone closer to the epicenter of the paper responded. Just last week I ran into trash which put forth this totally false allegation. I chose not to banter with the ignorant but I did ask the question which always ends this type of conversation: If Valerie Plame were not an undercover agent and just an insignificant desk jockey as flag wavers allege, why was it so important for the all powerful men in the white house to expose her identity?

5. Logic never enters into it.
It's also an attempt at character assassination of Fitz. Many people are clueless on such matters but believe such stuff blindly. The country will be better off when such people are forced to open their eyes.

3. Ask yourself why the CIA asked for this investigation
What did they believe, and when did they believe that it happened?

6. It's posted on the internet.
You have every right to respond. The newspaper in question gets responses from everywhere including Canada (because Raleigh is an NHL town).

7. The paid operatives
have to put out their daily dose of lies. That's how they earn their living.

8. If anyone does
respond, they might want to use a 2-13-06 article by Michael Isikoff from Newsweek as a reference. The title of the article was, "The CIA Leak: Plame Was Still Covert." In it, he notes that while critics have claimed Valerie was not covert, "special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald found Plame had indeed done 'covert work overseas' on counterproliferation matters in the past five years, and the CIA 'was making specific efforts to conceal' her identity, according to newly released portions of a judge's opinion." That may be too subtle for the person claiming Valerie wasn't covert, but most people can grasp the reality of Isikoff's article.
