Some info on National Bank. Anyone bank with them? |
|
My wife had lunch with her mother today and her mother explained to my wife that she needs to find a new Bank. That National City is going under. It seems my wife's aunt who works at National City was interesting fired right before this announcement was made known to the workers. See My wife's aunt would have been "bought out" by the bank...early retirement she could have taken. She is speaking with a lawyer right now about a discrimination suit. They went thru the Aunt's desk at work and she had won Three outstanding service awards that where in the desk. The Bank threw them out.
According to my wife's mother National City borrowed 30 million and it still won't help them stay afloat.

1. Everybody's edgy right now, and reacting to rumors.. |
|
Supposedly there are about 190 banks that are "in trouble" , but panicky people who run to their banks can add to the troubles.. If a person has less than 100K in any account ($200K for joint account), their money is safe..
By refusing to post that list, the Fed (or whomever) is creating panic in banks where none exists.. They need to just post them, and let people put the sketchy ones out of their misery..

2. My wife only asked me to pass this along as helpful info to people. |
|
She rather they be prepared and perhaps protect themselves before they get hurt.

3. How solid is the FDIC? |
|
National City is my bank and I've got only about three weeks' pay in my account -- but it's all I've got! Is there some mechanism that guarantees the FDIC is good for every account it covers?
I'm not particularly knowledgeable in this area. Obviously, I suppose.

4. As far as I know, it's ok..but with a Bush in charge for almost 8 yrs, who knows.. |
|
If you are seriously worried, you could probably cash your paychecks from here on in, and withdraw what you have..leaving enough to avoid them closing the account..but then you would have to pay your bills in cash, or buy money orders..:(...
We bank at WaMu with direct deposit of my husband's paycheck, and pay bills online.. It's gonna really suck for me if they "have problems"... They ARE a bank that's been mentioned :grr:
