Is there less traffic on the road today, or is it my imagination?

Yesterday about 6 pm I was eating at a fast-food place in Spartanburg, SC, next to a main thoroughfare, and it seemed to me there wasn't as much traffic as I'd have expected for that time of day. Now, I don't live there so I can't be sure. I asked a restaurant worker did she think there was less traffic now, and she did.

Another thing, almost all the cars were fairly new. Or at least in good condition outwardly. Very few beaters. That wasn't my imagination.

Anyone else?

1. I felt the same way here in Northern Florida. Usually
traffic is high about 4 O,clock but it seemed so much less the last time I went shopping.

2. On a trip into Chicago this week traffic was
bumper to bumper just like always. I see no decrease in the burbs either. But I have heard driving is down but I have to think it's long trips that are being eliminated not the neighborhood ones.

7. Around here it seems like the higher the price the more they drive
It is like they feel that they must get all the driving in they can before there is no way they can put fuel in their SUV's

8. No difference where I live.
In fact, at the liquor store I saw two SUVs & one big truck idling while the driver was in the store. It was hotter than hell & their windows were up so no doubt they had their air on, too.

10. I live in "vacationland" (Maine)
And the traffic definitely shows it. The high gas prices are not stopping the invasion.
