OK, now I'm REALLY fucking angry. Why the FUCK are my tax dollars being used |
|
to run commercials on the History channel to promote the fucking Border Patrol?
What, do you suppose, is the point of these feel-good spots? What's the justification for spending our tax dollars on these spots, in these parlous times of record Federal defecits?
Doesn't our Government (hey, that you means YOU, the Democratic-controlled Congress) have ANYTHING better to spend our tax dollars on?

1. i have had it too. i think the switch to a direct democracy is long overdue... |
|
why not everyday when i awake, in this new internet age, am i not presented with the funding decisions of the government...
*vote: continue the funding of the iraq war.
- vote (1) to agree. - vote (2) to disagree.
why can't i get a direct say? its my tax dollars. to be fair, they could even lump the votes by actual contribution. if you pay $100 in taxes and i $50 then your vote counts twice mine. i'm cool with that.
direct democracy. its time has come...

12. have you ever heard a smarmy corporate fuck give the first amendment spiel |
|
or given thought to the realities that exist now in terms of wealthy folks getting preference and access. If the "actual taxpayers" and regular voters would step up and pay attention, the system we have now could actually work. The problem is WITH the actual taxpayer/voters not exercising their citizenship responsibilities as it is!

some time . . . have you? I'm guessing it's owned.
Hopefully you called your reps on the last attempt to restore restrictions on consolidation of media ownership?

7. Oh, yeah, those. They only run them so they can threaten to yank the ad money |
|
from TV channels that air stories that reflect badly on them. An old, effective game.

5. What is your problem with the Border Patrol? They're doing their job |
|
as far as I can tell, and if anything, they're being a bit lax in enforcement.

10. When it is our side it is always the noble, eagle-eyed sharpshooter |
|
defending truth, justice, and the Constitution. When it is their side it is the evil, lowlife sniper who is seeking to destroy democracy. The funny thing is that they feel as absolutely sure and justified that they are right. Everybody is someone else's "they".
I wonder if somebody could figure out just what percent of my taxes are going for those commercials. Maybe .0000000001% of a penny? Hey, maybe they took all of my taxes and applied them toward that commercial--well that sucks.

11. The military ones are the worst. |

They break down and cry when they receive letters supporting their cause, defending people like the ones who send them bullshit letters and those who will fight for their "freedom."
Total bullshit.
