What living people whom you've not met would you most like to?
and have a real conversation (an hour or more) with? In no particular order mine:

HH The Dalai Lama (the only person on earth to whom I grant that honorific)
Howard Dean
George McGovern
Ryuichi Sakamoto (Japanese musician, and a genuine genius)
David Lynch
Barack Obama
Thich Nhat Hanh (Vietnamese Buddhist equivalent of HH The Dalai Lama)
Robert Fripp (Founding member and driving force of King Crimson)
Auu Sang Suu Chi
Sora Aoi (beautiful JAV star)
Daevid Allen (Austro-British jazz-rock musician)
Werner Herzog (German film director)
Jacques Pepin
Mario Batali
Garrison Keillor

Yeah, I have eclectic tastes and this represents a small fraction of the fascinating and diverse people this world has to offer.)

If Skinner or one of the other mods feels the need to relocate this to the Lounge, you do so with my complete approval and understanding.

2. Some from your list, plus others. First, Dennis Kucinich.
HH, most certainly.

Thich Nhat Hanh, absolutely.

Also...

Peter Singer
Capt. Paul Watson
The Beastie Boys, but especially MCA and Mike D
Tim McIlrath, of Rise Against
All of the Rage Against the Machine guys
Lee Priest (bodybuilder)
Carl Yastrzemski my boyhood idol
Jonathan Papelbon and Josh Beckett from the Bosox
Nolan Ryan
Angus Young
Peter Criss

I'm very lucky in that I've met a good number of those I'd admire like this.

6. Yaz is a mighty cool choice
Edited on Sat Jul-19-08 01:39 AM by FKA MNChimpH8R
In his Triple Crown year of 1967 he and Jim Lonborg led the Impossible Dream Sox to a last-weekend of the season pennant over my beloved Twins. Paradoxically, the Sox have been my second favorite team ever since. I still wonder what Tony Conigliaro could have been had he not been beaned.

3. If I also get to choose the location of the meet
Edited on Sat Jul-19-08 01:04 AM by grantcart
Osama Bin Laden in NYC

It would allow me to express some sentiments I have and able to pick up the $ 20 million as well.

But as for people to actually talk to your list is very good.

Probably would add Axelrod and Plouffe

on edit

Senator Franken

9. Many of the ones I'd REALLY want to talk to are gone
The top two on that list would be John Lennon and that wonderful guy in your avatar, Paul Wellstone. And unfortunatly I'd have to add Carlin to that list now:cry:

I miss those guys SO much :-(

Can you imagine what Paul Wellstone would be doing and saying if he were still alive? He'd be swinging the BIG hammer.

10. So Sad, so true
Two politicians have made me want to swing sledgehammers for change. The first was Robert Kennedy. The second was Paul Wellstone. I loved them both as brothers. What is so sad is that the system Dwight Eisenhower, whom I revere, warned us against, killed them both.

Peace on you.

And i think that Maxine and George would hold the reins, with Dennis sniping at all from the sidelines, in his Jeffersonian fashion,

Peace and love

wonderful choice. Have you heard "The Weavers at Carnegie Hall 1962"? We audiofreaks revere that album and not just for the astonishingly real sound!

24. Yup Got the original Vanguard vinyl ( at a dear price)
and the Acoustic Sounds reissue from the original tapes. Cost an arm and a nut for these copies on LP. The original Vanguard was $150-300 back in the days when I had disposable income and bought it. Well worth the investment. At least of if have mega LP playback equipment.
