I honestly have to say that I never watch the talking heads who stench up our media. |
|
Never--- Tweety---Wolf---Lou----- any of them. When I surf the channels and land on them, I get immediate acid reflex and move on. I simply cannot stomach more than 10 seconds of their bullshit.
Am I the only one with this affliction?

5. I avoid TV news in general. I watch KO on occasion, along with BBC news, Newsnight, and Democracy |
|
now. I usually prefer to get my news from the 'net, although with the election closing in I have been watching KO more.

7. I got rid of cable nearly six years ago |
|
and haven't missed it. The lack of noise from the clowns that you mention, as well as commercials, makes it much quieter when I watch movies.
And I spend no time at all now screaming at my television, which makes me happy.

10. I just came off an experimental 3-week abstinence of cable punditry. I've been |
|
watching sporadically the last couple days to get Obama World Tour news.. and I cannot tolerate it.
It is mindless propaganda and I truly believe I'm happier and healthier for having cut it out almost entirely. Someone here said "their motive is to make you angry and upset and ruin your day.." I believe that.

the only one I watch is KO/Rachael. And if his show ever goes to the talking head vs talking head format, I will leave it also. I tried watching Abrams for a bit, but its little better than all the rest. I will stick to KO and BBCA.

I kicked the habit back in March. Since then, I watch Olbermann, Stewart, and Colbert. They couldn't pay me to watch the other shit they try to pass off as "news."

14. I haven't watched any television news since Katrina |
|
Since then, I refuse to watch any of the tv news. I get my news from DU and other internet news sources.
I do appreciate all here that do bite the bullet and watch the tv coverage of the "news", escially when it's something like a * "press conference". :patriot:

16. The Cult Of Personality |

I watch like someone going through a gapers block gawking at the accident. The 24/7 news cycle has spawned a punditocracy of TV bobbleheads who seem to be experts on everything and always ready to toss in their "opinions"...and never having to be held accountable for being right or wrong. It's about getting the face time...having the byline and having the access...playing the games and living by the "conventional widsom" that has turned any true analysis into locker room gossip.
You rarely get a news conference or interview that isn't loaded with a gotcha that some stenographer hopes will get their face on the tube or coverage of any event that isn't "anal-ized" on end...filling hours with speculation and innuendo to fill time. It's also a media that prefers to manipulate a story tofit their themes...make the candidates play on their ground and attempt to broadbrush things as if their opinions and polls are gospel.
Thank goodness for the netroots...the alternative media and the people who are deidcated in breaking through the corporate media filter. In many ways it makes me a far more informed viewer as I now not only see the games being played out, others are as well...and through it we can communicate the spins before they become "fact".
Cheers...

19. Nope, I don't watch them either |

Of course, it helps to have a 4 YO who only wants to watch SpongeBob and Fairly Oddparents.
A few days ago I had the local liberal radio station on in the car and it was airing the simulcast of the show Rachel Maddow's on, on MSNBC, and I couldn't even take the crap that those folks (not Rachel--the other ones) were spewing. Something about how people in Europe were going to give Obama a hard time, but we're never going to see that Stateside because the MSM would never show anything negative about Obama. The minute one of them said that Sarkosy and Merkel weren't going to like Obama because they're close friends with President Bush (what, the Merkel who smacked Georgie when he felt her up at the G8 summit?), I turned it off--that was enough for me. :puke:
