Robert Rubin as Treasury Secretary
Since the economy seemed to be better during the Clinton Administration than they are now it would seem that Robert Rubin was a good Treasury Secretary. However, I would like to get the opinion of members of DU concerning that issue. Was Robert Rubin a good Treasury Secretary?

1. Yes, he was.
I think he did a fine job bringing the economy into a surplus for the first time in decades. Of course, that was squandered utterly by the current regime.

I think Obama should give serious consideration to asking Rubin to return as Treasury Secretary. God knows, he would have his work cut out for him.

2. No thank you.

Rubin is the wrong man at the wrong time.

5. Wasn't Suggesting Him
I was not suggesting that he be the future Treasury Secretary. I had just read about him in a book and was curious as to whether he had done a good job. I realized the Clinton economy was better than the current economy, but I still wondered if Rubin had been a major role players in that economy.

4. Robert Rubin is "Greenspan-Lite" and would be no prize!
Not that I'm saying the Clinton economy wasn't good, but Rubin was a well-intentioned globalist who really believed that internationalizing economies would eventually be good for everyone. How'd that work out for us, Bob?
