BBC "Captain America is dead"
How symbolic is this. . .?

The BBC news hour just reported this morning that Captain America has been killed. He was shot by a sniper yesterday.

I tend to read symbolism into everything but with the scandal at Walter Reed and beyond ( http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/030507A.shtml ), the General saying that the debacle of Iraq cannot be solved militarily exclusively ( http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070308/pl_nm/iraq_usa_general_dc ) , Senator Murray saying "We are fighting a war with no cause" ( http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bob-geiger/patty-murray-we-are-fig_b_42934.html ), the surge already sputtering ( http://www.juancole.com/ ), an astronaut has fallen, and the cartoon character who represented American military might in WWII being KO'd, could a fundamental sea change truly be happening ?

I'll type it again. . .psssssssssssssssssssssttt. . .

"Wars are no longer winnable and perhaps super powers are no longer appropriate in this still new millennium."

A surge in consciousness for humanity to GROW UP and stop killing each other is long overdue.

"We are creating with spirit a lasting peace on earth."

A better cartoon character for these times IMHO

Captain America RIP.

6. It's kind of baffling in a way - He just came off a pretty big role in
Marvel Comic's Civil War. I'm not convinced the character works in a modern setting - but certainly the current set up in the Marvel universe is such that his character would have an interesting role to play - who's going to take his place?

10. I think he's just yanking your chain - there was a popular series
called "Marvel Zombies" in which all the marvel superheroes were flesh eating zombies though. Kind of a one off series.

12. Minnie Mouse and Olive Oil for pres and VP
Edited on Thu Mar-08-07 01:43 PM by stellanoir
Lisa Simpson for Secretary of State. Okay . .? Maybe Jessica Rabbit for Press Secretary. . ."I'm not bad I'm just drawn this way."

Couldn't possibly be any worse than it is now.

More collaberation would truly help for sure instead of this incessant blather of bellicosity.

14. I'm thinking the embarrassment of the Libby treason...
was what really killed him.

Speaking of embarrassment, what was that Vietnam era song about the soldier who got a dear John letter? He didn't die from a bullet, he died of a broken heart.

20. Yeah I tried to find a link to the audio twice earlier today but it wasn't posted yet.
Now I have to fly out the door shortly.

The old adage goes. . ."truth is stranger than fiction" for sure.

Aaaaand what did I do. . .shut you up. . .? Not for long I'm quite sure. LOL

Oh and do keep this up for me whilst I'm out won't you dear?

Shoot.

That does NOT qualify as being suggestive either. So there,

Oh and thanks for the K & R as ever.

21. Woh thanks for the link.
"he will remain dead for about a year."

So we've a year to overcome our collective militarism, before it's revved up again for the primaries. I've a devious urge to write to the writers and have him reincarnate as a peacenik or a diplomat or work for the UN or the ICC. LOL
