Bush to leave White House $10 trillion in debt
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/index.php?sid=387487

The Bush administration will break a new record for the ballooning U.S. federal budget deficit next year, when it hits nearly a half trillion dollars.

It will be the second budget deficit record set by the 7-year old administration, which recorded another all-time budget deficit four years ago.

When Bush assumed office the country was in surplus by $128 billion. The U.S. national debt at that time was $5.6 trillion. It is currently $9.5 trillion, and with a forecast deficit of $389 billion this year, and an estimated $482 billion next year, Bush will leave office with the country more than $10 trillion in the red.

White House spokeswoman Dana Perino says President Bush is determined to enforce greater fiscal discipline while pursuing a pro-growth economic strategy.

5. It's worse than that. Bush will leave office adding 9 trillion to the twin deficits -
Edited on Mon Jul-28-08 10:25 PM by Elwood P Dowd
the combined budget and current account deficits. The current account deficit will be 700 billion and the budget deficit is almost 600 billion next year. That's 1.3 billion in just one fucking year. Since 2001, the total will probably exceed 9 trillion when you add the "off budget" stuff.

7. "Dana Perino says President Bush is determined"
Yeah, let the drunk who ran the car off the road, through a ditch, over a cliff and into the river be the one to drive us out of here. How badly must it suck to be Dana Perino? If there was still a legitimate news media in this country, clips of her fumbling through another press conference with a pack of rabid journalists tearing her to pieces would lead every evening news broadcast. And the anchor would be laughing his/her ass off at the end of the reel.

12. and greenspan was worried about what we would do with all that excess cash!
back when he was pimping shrub's idiotic tax cuts for himself and his ultra-rich buddies, he said if we didn't give the surplus back to taxpayers, the government might actually pay down the ENTIRE 5.6 trillion dollar national debt and THEN, OMIGOD, what would we do with the extra money!!

thank goodness we avoided THAT catastrophe!

:sarcasm:

I never could figure out why anyone in their right mind voted for him. He left a trial of incompetence and huge budget problems wherever he went.

25. I thought he had a plan to cut the deficit in half by
2009 by cutting taxes on the wealthy again and again and again. and again. His plan for job growth was to cut taxes on the wealthy which would enable them to hire more people in their sweatshops, oops, factories. What happened?:wtf:

Maybe, some of our heroic congress critters deserve a little responsibility for bending over so readily to Boobya's demands.
