Senate Dems call on EPA chief to resign
Senate Dems call on EPA chief to resign

Three Democratic senators on Tuesday called for the resignation of Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Stephen Johnson, saying he has displayed “a dangerous pattern of disregard” for the health and safety of Americans.

“Johnson’s EPA has shown an extraordinary disregard for the law,” Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) said. “And by extension, they’ve shown a disregard for the people that we represent and for all the American people.”

Boxer, joined by Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), also called on Attorney General Michael Mukasey to investigate whether Johnson has made false or misleading statements to Congress.

“Administrator Johnson has repeatedly been warned by Congress and the courts that he is on a dangerous course,” said Boxer in a news conference. “Time after time, the courts, all the way up to the Supreme Court of the United States, have overturned EPA's actions and accused EPA of employing, and I’m quoting from some of these decisions, ‘the logic of the Queen of Hearts and living in a Humpty-Dumpty world, where everything is upside-down.’”

The senators also criticized Johnson for failing to appear before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, which Boxer chairs and Klobuchar and Whitehouse are members of, to testify on the EPA’s record.

4. Judge: EPA turned 'blind eye'
LBN: Judge: EPA turned 'blind eye' on Everglades

A federal judge said the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency turned a ''blind eye'' to protecting the Everglades under the Clean Water Act.

In a ruling Tuesday from Miami, U.S. District Judge Alan Gold ordered the EPA to review water pollution standards set by Florida for the Everglades. Gold said the EPA must determine whether they meet federal requirements.

The ruling comes from a 2004 lawsuit filed against the EPA by the Miccosukee Indians and Friends of the Everglades. They claim the EPA violated the Clean Water Act by allowing Florida to change its water pollution requirements for the Everglades and to push ahead its pollution compliance deadlines.

The tribe called the ruling a victory. EPA said it is reviewing the ruling.

5. TAFKA (The Agency Formerly Known As) The Environment Protection Agency, is now...
...The Environmental Pollution Agency.

Yet another US governmental department or agency politicized and rendered impotent by bu$hit -- instead of operating independently and with integrity, morality, and in accordance with the law - it is now just another jockstrap for bu$hit's corprat welfare state.

7. This really needs to happen. Johnson is an intentional train wreck orchestrated by the * cabal
to exploit the country to benefit corporate greed. I applaud our politicians for aggressively pursuing this course of action.
