Letter to CNN regarding coverage of Impeachment proceedings
Edited on Fri Aug-01-08 10:41 AM by ejbr
I just read Nance Gregg's incredible letter to CNN regarding Campbell Brown's pathetic attempt at journalism. She inspired me to send this:

Campbell Brown has left me with the unfortunate task of writing to you in regard to her coverage of the impeachment proceedings that were held against President Bush. I find it shocking that someone who would call herself a journalist would stoop so low as to place her dimwitted opinions about the affair into her “coverage”. Her bias against Congress ensuring that the nation continues to be one governed under the rule of law was so glaring that I had to research who this woman was and why she felt it necessary to consider the attempted protection of the constitution as “stagecraft” or “kabuki theatre”.

Lo and behold, I see that Ms. Brown married a Republican consultant in 2006 who regularly appears on FOX News, a station that we ALL know is a republican mouthpiece. So, it is not enough for the Republicans to feed us one-sided nonsense on their station, but now they have a surrogate provide CNN with their talking points as well.

There was a time that I did respect your station for its ability to convey the news in an unbiased way. However, I am now left to wonder whether that ever was the case. I would not be surprised if this communication is met with a derisive chuckle and dismissive statements about me being a partisan Democrat. However, I would hope that your station would be just as unbiased when covering the Democrats as well, analyzing them with warts and all.

You see, I am not addressing this issue because of some myopic fidelity to the Democratic Party or blind displeasure against the Republicans, considering neither party is perfect. However, I am writing this to you because my fidelity is to the truth. I only wish that your news station would honestly be able to state the same. I am thoroughly disgusted with this incident which gives me one more reason to avoid your station and web site.

12. Love the letter
My favorite part is ......

"Lo and behold, I see that Ms. Brown married a Republican consultant in 2006 who regularly appears on FOX News, a station that we ALL know is a republican mouthpiece. So, it is not enough for the Republicans to feed us one-sided nonsense on their station, but now they have a surrogate provide CNN with their talking points as well."

Many need to have tags on their chests that say " I am a Republican mouth piece, I am married to a Bush/Cheney tool."

My name is Andrea Mitchell GREENSPAN, my husband is Alan, he has controlled what happens to the economy in the USA for ___ years.

My name is Anderson Cooper, my mother is Gloria Vanderbilt. She is an extremely wealthy woman.

My name is Ronnie Reagan Jr., my father was the President. My mother still is a strong supporter of the Republican party. I try my best to be fair and balanced.

My name is "Morning Joe." I have yet to let you know about that intern that said bye bye to the world in my office. I am a Republican tool and always have been.

My name is Mica B ---------. My father is an important man in government. I try hard to be fair but Morning Joe shuts me up all the time and I allow him to do it.

Who am I forgetting? This lineup could be its own thread.
I talk to so many people who are not aware of any of the above.

17. Don't forget, my name is James Carville
I sleep with the enemy and just got finished working for Hillary Clinton's campaign. I get to know all of the secrets of the Democrats so that my pillow mate can tell Cheney.

On the night of the Kerry/Bush "vote stealing" event, I placed a call to my wife at the WH that gave comfort to the Republicans. What did I say and why would I call my wife when I was working for the Democrats?

13. The Sad Trouble With Email
I do appreciate your passions and effort. Now have you gotten a reply? I mean a real one, not a computer generated one? Honestly...if you get a response, I'd like to see it. Or will they just blow off a valid criticism from a concerned viewer?

Please keep me posted...

15. No response, and I don't expect one.
My hope is that there are enough pissed off people writing that something actually IS done! Idealistic, I know. :sigh:

16. I Feel The Pain
Trust me, there are plenty of pissed off people out there...and many got that way due to the corporate media. Their attitude is if they piss both sides off that somehow they're doing their job.

I wish there was a way we could dialogue with these people...thus I was hoping you'd get some kind of response. It's a shame they just ignore any criticism...and in some cases, get further entrenched in their attitude that they know far more than we do.

Don't lose the idealism. Something is being done...just the corporate media is too lazy to look for it. It's going on in hundreds of precincts around the country...one voter at a time. Our job is to make sure our message reaches the grassroots.

Cheers...

19. I salute the letter, it is more than I took the time to do
and even if they did send a response, they are not going to change.

The MSM runs this country and the only voice we have is our own.

The only pen we have is our own as well.

Until thousands of us flood the streets in front of CNN and FOX nothing will happen in my view.

Even then , they would just define us as "crazy liberals."
