What John McCain and Dick Cheney Have in Common
McCain is now playing the race card.

Or is Senator Obama the one playing it?

Wait, one of them had to have played the race card first... but who?

Frankly, I wish we would all retire the phrase "playing the race card". Racism is not a card game. Not only that, but the way the debate between McCain and Obama has devolved into finger-pointing over race is absolutely disappointing.

<snip>

I know he doesn't really need the political association nowadays, but I wonder if McCain and Dick Cheney ever talk privately about how the each of them publicly and politically sell out their own blood : Cheney did so with his lesbian daughter then in the last 8 years, just as McCain does so with his Bangladesh daughter now.

5. John McCain is an ass. Ditto Dick.
Here are a couple of recently posted related links in case anybody missed them. Thanks for another good one, tannybogus.

Our mother had told us time and time again not to touch anything whenever we went shopping, but we couldn't help it this time. We picked up toys and candy and other items, exclaiming to each other to "come look at this." Until it happened.

I heard the shopkeeper before I saw her.

"Put that back!" a female voice shouted. "What are you doing in here?! You better not take anything, 'cause I'm watching you." I looked up and into the anger-twisted face of a large, angry white woman.

We too much in shock and too frightened to say anything. I don't remember what else she said, but I'm pretty sure she called us thieves and threatened to call the police. I looked around for out mother, who hadn't realized that we were no longer behind her. I didn't see her for a moment, and then she appeared, no doubt drawn back to the front of the store by the commotion. She flashed us a look, and apologized to the shopkeeper (who was still giving us an angry look as we left the store with our purchases). It wasn't until we ere out of the store that our mother explained.

Perhaps this is why, contrary to popular belief, research indicates that people of color are actually reluctant to allege racism, be it on the job, or in schools, or anywhere else. Far from "playing the race card" at the drop of a hat, it is actually the case (again, according to scholarly investigation, as opposed to the conventional wisdom of the white public), that black and brown folks typically "stuff" their experiences with discrimination and racism, only making an allegation of such treatment after many, many incidents have transpired, about which they said nothing for fear of being ignored or attacked (10). Precisely because white denial has long trumped claims of racism, people of color tend to underreport their experiences with racial bias, rather than exaggerate them. Again, when it comes to playing a race card, it is more accurate to say that whites are the dealers with the loaded decks, shooting down any evidence of racism as little more than the fantasies of unhinged blacks, unwilling to take personal responsibility for their own problems in life.

I pity McCain's daughter. She doesn't deserve a racist for a father; no one does.

Oh, and he and the rest of his backward ilk can kiss my pasty white ass.

6. Exactly, it is those damned repukes' way of dodging any
mention of their own racism.

Repukes have a way of making something sound "wrong" just because they want it to be. Calling them out on their racism is "wrong" to them. They believe they are entitled to it.
