WSJ illiteracy - journalists can't read/transcribe a sentence. |
|
Check out the diff between the banner pictured and what the WSJ thinks it reads Barack Obama’s town hall meeting Friday on the economy was interrupted by protesters. Three African-American men stood up holding a banner that read: “Barack Obama, what are you going to do for the black community?” http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2008/08/01/protesters-interrupt-obama-speech/

2. I thought it was only the TV "journalists" who could not read |
|
or speak a complete sentence. I believe the educational system in the US is bad, but it must be worse than I thought.

I've met and worked with some great journalists and reporters over the years. People who, before the google, would go into archives and dig for information, would actually go to where the action was and both observe and ask and would write based on the five "w"...who, what, where, when...and then why...but only after the other four were covered. Today's stenographers go to the why first and then try to connect the other Ws.
